The Dreamiest Peaches

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2005
I'm rating this a 5 star mostly for the quickness. I would rate the taste a 3 or 4; but after working a 12 hour shift as a nurse and being able to have peach crisp in 5 minutes was fantastic! I used 3 fresh peaches and microwaved for one minute to soften and warm as other reviewers suggested. I then broiled with the topping and ate it with Cool Whip. The perfect quick dessert! I wouldn't serve this to company and it's not as delicious as real peach crisp but it is very simple, quick and tasty & im my opinion worthy of 5 stars. Thanks Chandra!

Candied Kielbasa

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2005
Wow, was this YUMMY! Being a Polish girl, I never had kielbasa this way! lol I read the reviews and grilled my kielbasa lightly on the BBQ so that fat would not drip into the crockpot. (I love my kielbasa BBQ'd). Then to my dismay, I discovered that my husband used the last of our horseradish! I didn't want to substitute but I had to use horshradish sauce. Luckily, some other reviewers had done the same and said it turned out great. Well, I have to agree. The sauce was NOT liquidly or runny from too much fat...the horseradish sauce still gave it a nice zing without too much heat (even my six year old son loved it). Just a delicious way to prepare kielbasa. We always grill kielbasa for appetitizers at parties and I was thinking of even making the sauce and serving it on the side for dipping. The combination of the smoked, garlicky kielbasa and the sweet/tangy sauce is sooooooooooooo good! Thanks for a great recipe.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2005
I really loved this............but beware, you HAVE to cut the amount of sugar. Thank goodness that I read the reviews before making this and did not add the full amount of sugar. I used 1/3 cup of sugar and I still found it a little sweet; and I LIKE sweet. Next time I will only use a 1/4 cup of sugar. Overall a delicious macaroni salad, creamy with a little tangy zing. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2005
YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!! This was so delicious! I can't wait to make it again. Next time I will marinate the chicken as other reviewers suggested. The only change I made was to do equal amounts of mustard and honey....I like my honey mustard a little on the sweet side. I made 6 chicken breasts and there wasn't enough sauce left to dip........next time I will definitely make extra. Can't wait to make this again next week!

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2005
While this was tasty, it wasn't worth 5 stars. And to me, one chicken breast with 500 calories and 32 grams of fat is ridiculous. I will not be making this again; I love my husband and don't want to clog his coronary arteries.

Korean BBQ Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2005
Oooh...this was sooooooooooo salty. My husband and I love Korean and Asian inspired dishes. This was terrible. It just tasted like salty marinated chicken. Dinner was ruined with this recipe. If you are looking for a good Asian bbq dish try the Asian Beef Skewers.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2005
These really are prize winning ribs and deserve every one of the five stars that they are rated. I followed the recipe exactly. I had never trimmed the membrane off the underside of the ribs before but I followed the recipe and found that it was not difficult at all. I had read that another reviewer's grill caught fire! I had no such problem...I lined the entire lower rack of the grill with foil and it caught the dripping off the ribs. What I really loved about this recipe was the ease of it all. While these were cooking for an hour on low, I was in my swimming pool with my son because we are having a heat wave in NJ. This is such a great recipe for a busy Mom. For the last five minutes I turned the grill to med/high, removed the foil and grilled this with barbeque sauce so they would have nice grill marks. I will be making these many, many more times this summer. Thank you so much for this great recipe!!

Chinese Chicken Salad III

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2005
Neither my husband or I liked this salad and we are both big fans of asian inspired salad dressings. I really disliked this dressing. It was really yucky....a thick, bad tasting glob. I did like the greens though...the cilantro and green onions were very good.

The Best Chicken Salad Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2005
This IS really delicious!!! I'm a big Miracle Whip fan so I liked the fact that this calls for salad dressing which is why I gave it a try. I have never tried cole slaw dressing and didn't even know they made such an item but I found it in my local shoprite. It added a wonderful flavor!! As another reviewer, I did not "puree" this in a food processor but left it chunky. Yummy recipe! Thanks!

Asian Beef Skewers

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2005
WOW! These were awesome! I made these twice. First time was for dinner; we loved them but my husband thought they were a little salty. I also forgot to add the green onions the first time. Well, the second time I made them was for a barbeque yest. This time I added the green onions and I added half soy sauce and half Yoshida's marinade. They turned out perfect! All the guests were raving. Even the kids kept asking for more "meat on a stick." I HIGHLY recommend this recipe for a bbq get together. They are quick to cook and delicious to eat!!! Thanks for this recipe.

Corn and Zucchini Melody

Reviewed: May 28, 2005
I really loved this! I did not add the monterey jack cheese because my husband doesn't like cheese and didn't want the added fat.....it still was delicious! I made the mistake of adding a clove of garlic...normally I love garlic but you don't need it; it overpowered the flavor of the zucchini and corn. I used frozen green giant white corn niblets. Next time I will only use 2 pieces of bacon; I think that's enough and I really don't want the added fat calories. Thanks for an awesome recipe. I can't wait to use the zucchini that I am growing in my garden!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: May 21, 2005
I have made this recipe at least 10 times and it always comes out perfect. I love a moist, dense carrot cake and this one is really the bomb. I hate reviewers who change people's recipes and give it bad reviews...but I have to have coconut and pineapple in my carrot cake. I always add ½ cup crushed pineapple (drain most of the liquid) and ½ cup sweetened coconut. Thanks for a great recipe Tammy!!! UPDATE: After reading all the reviews again I noticed that occasionally my cake does sink a little in the center so I followed several reviewers recommendations and perfection! #1 I did NOT open the oven door at all and made sure I was preheated to 350. #2 I did NOT over beat the ingredients, as a matter of fact, I always hand mix this cake (I whisk the wet ingredients and use a wooden spoon to stir/incorporate dry ingredients )as not to introduce a lot of air. I baked for 40 minutes and the cake is picture perfect. I also always pulse my carrots in a food processor (after grating them) to make them a little finer because I don't like stringy, big pieces of carrot in my cake.

Pork Chops with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2005
This was very good. I just wish I could find a recipe where the pork chops come out very moist...not that these were dry; they just weren't fall off the bone moist. A very nice combination of flavors for Italian marinara style pork chops.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2005
California Pizza Kitchen makes a similar salad called "Field Greens" which is one of my favorites. I agree that the combination of the sweet pears, the tangy blue cheese and the crunchy pecans is delicious. This is a fantastic salad. I omit the avacado to cut down on the fat content; I love avacados; I just don't think you need it in this salad.

Peanut Butter Cup Grilled Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2005
This is such a cute idea! I loved the taste of this; what a great twist on a grilled cheese sandwich. Next time I will wait a little bit before eating so the chocolate/peanut butter isn't hot and liquidy...but I just couldn't resist trying it right away. This is a special treat; more like a dessert. Thanks for this inventive sandwich!

Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2005
Lately I feel like alot of the 5 star recipes are not 5 star recipes in my book so I was totally expecting to be disappointed with this recipe. NOT SO! It deserves 5 stars!!! HOORAY! I used to used boxed chocolate cake mix and "doctor" it with some sour cream and cocoa. I will only make this chocolate cake from now on. It was absolutely delicious. It was moist, it had a rich chocolate taste without being bitter or too fudgy. It was slightly dense but not heavy or brownie like. Really, just perfect. I am making a sheet cake this weekend for a party for my 6 year old son and I can't wait to have another piece! You will not be sorry if you make this cake. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out beautiful!!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
This was a real, real disappointment. There is NO WAY you can pipe this frosting...it is soooooooo soft and runny. I am an part time cake decorator so I am very familiar with piping frosting. I placed my bowl and beaters in the freezer and chilled my whipped cream. It was still too soft to really ice anything other than a flat sheet cake. After reading the reviews I noted that some people said use only 1 cup of whipped cream and not 1 ½ cups. Possibly that may have made it a little thicker. But my point is...the recipe as written does not work. Another reviewer suggested that this frosting can only be used on a flat, sheet type cake and I totally agree. I used this to frost a 10 inch angel food cake and it just started to drip/slide down the sides. It did not hold up well.....and that was after refrigerating and trying to chill/thicken it up. I would never make this again....stick will regular, buttercream creamcheese frosting. If you enjoy carrot cake with traditional cream cheese frosting you will not enjoy this fluffy, runny, whipped cream version.

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2005
This was sooooo YUMMY!!! I took the great adviceo of many other reviewers and used FRESH thyme. I omitted the rosemary because my husband hates it; he says it's like eating pine needles. Anyway, the fresh thyme was absolutely delicious. I used acorn squash, onions, potatoes and fresh garlic cloves. Next time I make this I want to try eggplant and zucchini too. The balsamic vinegar gives these veggies this nicest sweet/tangy taste. Thank you so much for this recipe!!

Honey Bun Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2005
This was just ok. It doesn't take anything like a honey bun. It tastes like yellow cake mix with cinnamon in it. Would not make again.
