About this Cook
I'm a 21-year-old girl who just LOVES to cook! I live by myself and therefore I have a lot of freedom to just go ahead and cook or bake. Other than that I'm in grad school, studying Italian and hopefully end up as a college professor once I'm done. I'm from Denmark and discovered this page by incident when I was looking for a recipe on Angel Food Cake - now I can't live without this page!
My favorite things to cook
DESSERTS! But I also like to bake stuff. I'm a huge fan of sweets but I also like to cook pasta or fish. Which I'd have to say, are my specialities.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned all my cooking from my mom who's a chef. I love how she taught me little tips, such as how to peel a clove of garlic faster. But I also like our Christmas tradition of making 4 kinds of cookies. Now that I live away from home, It can be a little hard to plan, but I always come home and make those Christmas cookies! Christmas is really that time of year where we cook the most and we all help out.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph would have to be my Italian foccacias! They were a huge hit at the last family gathering and everyone wanted the recipe. Another triumph is the cookie recipes that I inherited from my grandmother - they used to be secret, but now we all share them.
My cooking tragedies
That would have to be when I saw a cooking show on how to make strawberry muffins. I went to their website and got the recipe and it contained like 12 eggs - and the muffins tasted more like eggs than strawberries!! Another tragedy is when I went to the US for the first time. I went to buy CREAM (which is a word I didn't learn until later), and came home with Half/half and found out that it was impossible to whisk into whipped cream!
