White Castle Turkey Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
We had this dressing for the first time last night on Thanksgiving and it was really good! There were two different dressings and the one made with the white castles was almost gone and the other one barely touched. The only difference was it was made with poultry seasoning. If you haven't tried it yet you don't know what your missing out on. Yummy.

Unstuffing Side Dish

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
I've been looking for a really good stuffing recipe and I've finally found it. The only thing I don't add are the mushrooms. My hubby likes it too. Yummy!

Kansas Tomato Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
This sandwich is good but I have to say that usually make mine with toasted white bread, 2 slices of american cheese and I use Miracle Whip with mine instead of butter and it's the best! I also do not add lettuce or salt. Just my preference. Yummy.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
I made this roast yesterday in my new crock pot and wow it was sooo good. I browned a 3.5 lb chuck roast on the stove in a little extra virgin olive oil and salt and pepper and then slow cooked it with the rest of the ingredients for 5.5 hours on low and it fell apart. I used red skinned potatoes which I think next time I will put in an hour after everything else. Oh yeah, I substituted beef broth for the water. With the left over roast I shredded it and added Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce and my husband and I had it on hamburger buns tonight for dinner. Thanks for a great recipe Marie!

Sophie's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
I have made this recipe several times now and it is really good! The one thing I would like to say is I have found the best thing to use is all white sugar and don't squeeze the liquid out of the zucchini. Another thing I learned is to take the zucchini bread out of the pans a couple minutes after they come out of the oven and immediately wrap them in foil. It helps to keep the bread moist. My grandkids just love it when I make zucchini bread. Thanks for such a tasty recipe!

Fresh Tomato Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
I made this salsa for the first time a couple of days ago. It's really good but you must let it sit in the fridge for a couple of days and let the flavors "marry". Also I would definitely cut the salt in half. My 7 year old grandson loved it and wanted to take the bowl home for himself, lol. I'll be definitely making it again. Oh yeah, and I only used 1/2 of a jalapeno pepper, added one clove of chopped garlic, and used red onion instead of white. Yummy :)

Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
I just made this soup and it's really good with a few modifications of my own. First of all I used 1/2 pkg. of Bob Evans Roll Sweet Italian Sausage.I browned it and then removed it from the pan. It had no grease to it. I added 1 tbs. olive oil to the pan and sauted the onions and garlic. I then added the beef stock (5 1/2)cups and no wine. I used to cans of chopped tomatoes instead of fresh. I simmered the first ingredients for 40 minutes cause the carrots needed it. I increased the basil and oregano to 3/4 tsp and also added 2 tbs. sugar. Also I used a whole pkg. 9 ounces of Buitoni 3-cheese tortellini. I would cook it for 9 minutes on the side then add it to the soup. It comes out better that way. I will definitely be making this soup again. Thanks Tim!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
I just finished making this recipe and was very diappointed. Besides being greasy(yes I did drain the grease off twice during baking), and most of the brown sugar didn't stay on. Sorry but I won't be making these again.

Potato Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
I made this soup yesterday and after tweeking it, it came out great. I ended up adding a whole block of Velvetta and 3/4 of a block of Kraft Medium Cheddar Cheese. I also only used 1/2 stick of butter instead of a whole and did not add the salt. I think next time I will add another potato and another carrot. I also ended up putting in some half and half at the end to thin it out a little. Definitely didn't need the cornstarch and milk mixture for thickening. The one thing I would like to mention is when making this soup, you must make sure to turn the heat off when adding the cheese cause if you don't you run the risk of it turning out with a curdled consistency. I took some of it to my daughters today and she thought it was better than Big Boys Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup which has always been her favorite, so boy was I happy! This one is definitely a keeper!

Hawaiian Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2004
Thankyou Saundra for an absolutely wonderful banana nut bread recipe! My whole family loved it! I did omit the coconut because I don't like coconut but wow, it was great! I did have to bake it a little longer, about 67 minutes and I baked them in a little bit smaller loaf pans but it turned out great. It was my first time baking banana nut bread and I was a little nervous but now I will make this all the time. Once again thankyou!

Raisin Nut Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2004
I made this recipe a few days ago and wanted to say that my husband really liked it, especially since it had raisins in it. Personally I would have liked it to be a little sweeter but that's just me. Also I have an electric oven and I had to baked it 10 minutes longer. All in all, very tasty!

Tangy Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2004
I just finished making this recipe and it is very good. I didn't have any spicy chili beans on hand only mild ones so I used them and it really does need the "kick" of the spicy beans. I added some cumin to give it a little extra flavor. I think also next time I might add a half of a can more of the sloppy joe mix so it won't be so thick. This recipe is easy and is definitely a keeper. Thanks!

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2003
I just finished making this soup and it turned out pretty good. I omitted the salt and added a chicken bouillon cube cause I felt it needed a stronger chicken flavor. I also added one can of cream of chicken soup. My daughter tried it and really liked it. I precooked my egg noodles then added them to the soup so they wouldn't soak up alot of the juice. I think next time I'll add some peas. With the cold weather already starting it's nice to have a good soup to warm you up!

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2003
Thanks for a wonderful recipe Margo! My family loved it. I did cook the roast first in my crockpot with a can of beef broth and left out the bay leaf. Also I didn't use the carrots since they came in the bag of frozen veggies that I bought. I precooked the barley and added to the soup later so as to not soak up the juice. This made alot of soup and I was able to freeze a bowl for another time. Will definitely make this recipe again. Oh yeah, I also added 2 tsps. of worchestire sauce to the soup too. Delicious!!!

Divine Spaghetti Sauce

I was totally disappointed in this sauce. I used less seasonings than the recipe called for and it was still too much. None of my family liked it either.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2003
I made this recipe for the first time last night and thought it was just okay. Too many potatoes and not enough chicken flavor. I ended up adding 3 chicken boullion cubes, an extra can of cream of chicken soup and a can of chicken broth and it still seemed to need more "chicken flavor". I think I'll try to make it one more time and use a bag of frozen mixed vegetables instead of the potatoes. The dumplings came out great and you definitely have to use half the amount the recipe calls for because it makes way too many. Also I followed the Bisquick box intsructions and cooked them uncovered for 10 minutes, then covered them for an addtional 10 minutes and they came out perfect. My daughter really liked it and she is usually pretty picky.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2002
I made this coffee cake for the first time and although the flavor was really good, I didn't feel there was enough batter for a 13x9 pan. The next time I make it I will use a smaller pan and add a little more cinnamon and brown sugar and maybe some chopped apples.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2002
I made this recipe for the first time today in my crock pot. I cooked it on low for about 10 hours. Wow was it delicious!! I used a 3 1/2 pound chuck roast and increased the mushroom and onion soup by half. My husband raved about it. He couldn't get over how tender the meat was. I will definitely make this again. Thanks Sher!
