Mustard Crusted Tilapia

I am not a person who eats a lot of fish but I enjoyed this dish. I would like the coating to be a bit crunchier but the taste was good.

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
As most have stated, I added more sugar, cinnamon to coat the almonds. I get requests for these every year around the holidays. I put them in little decorative bags for friends and family. I also substitute pecans for the almonds. My husband prefers the pecans but both are very good

Calico Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
For this recipe there is never a spoonful left. I have used different combinations of beans, usually what I have on hand and it always seems to come out great. This has never failed as a passing dish.

Soooo moist. I make this bread during the holiday's. It is simple to make and a delicious treat to give as gifts to my neighbors. I bit of a change from the normal sweet treats.

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

I didn't care for this recipe. Neither did my family. I used exact ingredients but the flavors just didn't seem to blend. Maybe it is an acquired taste. Just not for me.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Loved this pie!!!! I made it for my nephew also. He told me he liked this recipe better than the one with Karo Syrup but since Grandma (my mother) makes the traditional pie he would never state that to anyone else. That was cute.

I can never make enough of this simple and wonderful recipe. The last few times I have made a triple batch for family gathering but they are still gone before I can get one.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2012
I loved this recipe and did very little in modifying the ingredients. I did modify how I put it together. I love garlic but enjoyed allowing the ginger to step up and not be outweighed by it. I added a small dash of garlic powder and an egg, probably more out of habit. Because the texture was so moist I formed two loafs and baked them on a metal grate/rack, sprayed with cooking oil. I applied a little of the ketchup and brown sugar mixture to the top lightly then put a strip of bacon across each loaf. This allowed the bacon to add flavor to the meat but all the grease to drip down and away from the meatloaf. Just before it was completely cooked I added the remaining ketchup/brown sugar glaze and put it under a low broiler to let it really adhere to the loaf and darken it just a bit at the edges. Any family member I have made this for has requested the recipe. At times I have added or subtract the garlic and egg and occasionally have added the Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture. Honestly it has never received any complaints and is probably winning more honors from my kids on the second day when it slices so nicely for meatloaf sandwiches on rye, with a small dab of mustard. Thanks for the recipe tangastar.

Man's Way Sausage

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
Everyone in the house enjoyed this dish. I did make one small change and that was in the way I cooked it. I had to leave before it was done so I followed everything until it came to cooking the eggs. I just barely cooked them in the pan with the juices then poured them over the potatoes and sausage and put them back into the oven to let them finish. It worked out great. The eggs were light and fluffy. The whole dish was very tasty and quite filling. Thanks for the recipe!!!!

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
Fabulous is correct. Due to requests, I have made these several times. I stayed true to the content of the recipe but did change how I served them. I put the burritos together using the ground beef mixture, a sprinkle of cheese and a little bit of sauce for the inside of the tortilla. Then I put some of the sauce in the bottom of a baking dish and placed the wrapped tortilla on top. I covered them with a little more sauce and cheese and put them in a 325 degree oven for about 15 minutes, until the cheese was melted. I had the lettuce, tomato, green onion, sour cream, sauce and cheese out to let everyone apply the toppings of their choice to a warm burrito. This just seemed to work out better for us. Otherwise I followed the recipe as written. Everyone has asked about the sauce as it seems to be one of the main flavors which puts this ahead of other burrito recipes. Thanks so much for the GREAT recipe!!!!!!!!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
A few family members liked this sweet cheese ball but I wasn't so impressed. The recipe itself is fine but the taste was just lacking. I put this out a few times using different cookies, sweet type crackers and wafers. It just never won people over. Since I had a few who enjoyed it and I had no issues with the application of the recipe I will gave it 3 stars.
