Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2014
Yummy! I love whipped cream frosting and this fit the bill. It was also easy enough for my 12 yo daughter to make on her own.

Yummy! I also scraped the browned bits from the pan and added those, plus a couple tbsp. bacon grease to the dressing mix!

Classic Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
Oh YUM! I used cinnamon applesauce instead of the oil, added 1 tsp cinnamon, shredded carrot, and shredded apple. The muffins were so moist and delicious! Oh, and I used honey because I was out of brown sugar.

Butter Rich Spritz Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
Loved these! This was my first time using a cookie press and this recipe did not disappoint. I did not have almond extract so I subbed grated orange zest and 1 T juice fom the orange. Mmmmmmmmmm! I also added 2 more tablespoons of butter.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
Super creamy and chocolatey, especially using three HEAPING tablespoons of cocoa! The recipe is easy enough for my 10 year old daughter to make on her own. She made 2 batches tonite: one to put into cups for their lunches, and the other we devoured!

Chef John's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
Yum! I always make drop biscuits because of ease and convenience but am glad I took the plunge with cut outs! These are easy and delicious! You can't go wrong with Chef John's recipes! p.s. I make sour milk instead of using buttermilk: 2T lemon juice and milk to make 1 cup.

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2012
I was looking for a healthy, filling breakfast to serve my daughter and her friend before cheer camp. I am so glad I found this recipe; the girls kept commenting on how much they liked the pancakes! My daughter requested them again this morning, too! My tweaks: Dark brown sugar; 1t vanilla

Buttermilk Syrup

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
Whomever said that she would save only this syrup if her house burned down was not kidding! I made this with only one exception: I used 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp. maple extract as I wanted something a little more maple-y for our pancakes. I don't think it mattered all that much, though, because the carmel flavor still stood out. My kids LOVED the syrup; my 11 year old daughter stood at the stove with a spoon eating it right out of the pot! Next time I will double the recipe because I always make extra pancakes to heat up for the kids' breakfasts on school mornings.

Cheesy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
Fantastic! I mixed the cheese in with the meat and loved how there was lots of cheesy goodness in every bite! This is the ideal day-after sandwich meatloaf as it is nice and dense, and slices nicely.

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Awesome!!! The sauce, in my opinion, is what makes this salad a hit; the people @the picnic couldn't get enough of it! Because I had no bacon or raisins I omitted them. I used broccoli, cauliflower, green onions, red grapes and sliced almonds. red wine vinegar worked just fine, too. Great recipe!

Microwave Popcorn

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
Who knew? I can't believe I have been buying microwave popcorn all these years! I am on a no white sugar/no white flour "diet" and am looking for healthy snacks. I used olive oil and sea salt, but I think next time I am going to only use 1/4 cup of kernels because 1/2 almost blew out my bag. I might even use a tad bit of butter every now and again :)

Oh man, was this a good recipe! It had just the right blend of ingredients for me. I used onion powder in lieu of onions, and Old Bay instead of pepper. Yummmy!

Chocolate Cream Pie II

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
Yum yum yum!! I even forgot to add the vanilla but the end result was a dark chocolate flavor. I also decided to use a pretzel crust which added a wonderful salty complement to the chocolate. I will definitely use this recipe again and again!

City Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
My husband and I couldn't stop eating this! What I did differently: I didn't have any skewers so I didn't bother cutting the pork into cubes. I still prepared the larger pieces (like country-style ribs) the same way. I also added a packet of onion soup mix over the pork, then cooked for the stated length of time. I made the gravy and served over brown rice. My whole family loved this and I will make it again!! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
