Moroccan-Style Stuffed Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2012
Wow! This is amazing! So so so good! Perfect balance of sweet and savory...wonderfully deep flavors. A definite keeper with or without the squash! (Oh, a few changes: I left out the garbanzo beans [not my style] and swapped craisins for the raisins.

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
This is really good if you change: sugar: 3 tablespoons safflower oil: 1-2 tablespoons (i did 3 and it was still oily. and vegetable is fine.) soy sauce: 4 tablespoons (i found it a little salty and soy sauce tasting. i like soy sauce a lot less than most people though so your call. maybe do 5.) chili sauce: i accidentally did 3 and it was fine. don't be scared. and of course i added chicken and sautéed veggies. yummmm.... was better cold but still plenty good hot.

Easy Ice Cream Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
I'm really conflicted how to rate these. They tasted amazing beyond and were gone in seconds. But the recipe...kinda flopped. The cookies flattened and merged together-I ended up with a cookie the size of my pan! I cut them all up and managed to salvage it somewhat but it didn't look too pretty. It may have been my fault though (ok, it probably was)-I greased my hands so I'd have an easier time rolling them out. I guess I'll give them a four-my family's kind of insisting; they loved them!

Brownie Batter + Cupcake = The SECOND BEST Cupcake. Ever

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
Totally disagree, these are WAY better than the cookie ones (those were a little bland in my opinion). Yum, yum, yum...i burnt the roof of my mouth eating them so fast...:) I used a duncan hines butter golden and the "best brownie" recipe on this site since I didn't have any brownie mix, but tweaked it a bit: upped the chocolate to 3/4 cup and the flour to 1 cup. worked like a dream. made 26 not 48. And drizzled them with melted chocolate for a little nicer presentation without an additional flavor. Yum...these are pretty and yummy and oh so cute. And they're good both hot and cold... Okay, I made them again according to the directions and I like them better my way so I'm changing it to four stars. The white cake is a little bland-use yellow. And I found the real brownie recipe ends up meltier. But these are a definite keeper...oh so yummy! I made everyone I know eat one. :)

Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
I wanted to make the "brownie batter + cupcake = the second best cupcake. ever" recipe i found on this site (try it, it's heaven!) but i didn't have brownie mix in the house. These worked PERFECTLY for that with a few tweaks according to some of the reviewers: a) upped the cocoa to 3/4 cup b) upped the flour to 1 cup (though that was by accident, it worked out fine). Didn't touch the frosting so you're on your own for that. I had some extra brownie batter so made them straight, they're good but a little dense-probably from the extra flour. and actually, i think i'd go down in cocoa too. Moral of the story: stick to the recipe unless you're making the cupcakes.

O' Henry Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
I'm sorry, I hate giving bad reviews but these are just not as good as what I've tried. Instead of being all goey, it kinda was like toasted oats..And it made 2 pans worth (which in my book is actually a plus but I had to double the chocolate topping.)

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
These really deserve a 3 1/2. In my opinion 3 means bad and 4 means good. These definitely aren't bad, they're just not phenomenal. Ok this all sounds very negative. They're good muffins. They're just not spectacular. This could be attributed to the fact that i made them regular sized so they had less cinnamon/sugar coating. But...I'm rating the muffins not the topping. The consistency was wonderful. They would make a fabulous base. Don't use margarine-the butter is what makes it. I doubled it-the regular amounts made a pitiful amount. It made 11 regular sized muffins. And the butter/cinn/sug topping didn't need to be doubled (for some reason there's always too much). I feel so guilty giving this a three star. They're good. They're just not "wow"! They're perfect if you want a simple muffin or a starting point.

Frozen Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
These definitely taste like cookie dough-I was all worried from the reviews. But...they need a kick. I feel like if I'm going to the trouble of rolling them and freezing them there should be something a little more than just the cookie dough taste/texture. I thought coating them in chocolate/freezing would do that...I think I'm gonna try spicing them up...maybe like a doomsday cookie type... Very good recipe to use for chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream though...

Soft Giant Pretzels

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
Yummy! Very good! I made these with the mustard sauce from the Taste of Home Kitchen recipe and I like them better plain! They did however look more like rolls than pretzels-next time I'll make more than 8... Also i cut the baking soda bath in 1/2-there's really no need to use up an entire box! :) Oh! Don't forget to grease the pan! I didn't and ended up with only half a pretzel from each. You can also put the salt on before baking them and then you don't need to dampen them-they're already wet from their baking soda bath. Just be sure you don't get shampoo in their eyes! (tee hee)

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
I have a fantastic cinnamon bun recipe but the "clone of a cinnabon" title made me try these. They weren't particularly different, but i loved the idea of brown sugar with the cinnamon-it caramelized really well. And cream cheese frosting is always a hit. They did end up either a drop raw or a drop overdone; hence the 4 stars.

Chuck's Molasses French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
Yum...the texture in these is great! All caramelized and yummy. Don't be afraid to let these get really well done-that's how they're best. I have discovered though that i am really not a fan of molasses, no matter how hard i try. :) I think i'll leave it out next time... Oh, and i only used 2 T of molasses and added a bit more than a pinch of cinnamon sugar.

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
YUM! we inhaled these! We did tweak it a bit: a) Upped it to 6 tsp of coffee in 6 tsp of water. I was a bit worried it'd ruin the texture but it was fine. And you could actually taste the coffee. b) Added in almost an entire packet of chocolate chips-they melted just so for a perfect yummy-ness. And just as a warning they do come out very brown (i mean c'mon, it's 6 tsp of coffee here!) They're not ugly but they don't look like the picture. More like chocolate cupcakes. I usually give 4 stars if I make a drastic change but these are so amazing I can't bring myself to it. I practically will my bananas to get yucky so I can make these; they've become my go-to muffins, I make them ALL the time.

I wouldn't suggest serving this to the public until you actually master the art of the jelly roll. BUT it was delicious and fun to make nonetheless.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
yum! i had a really good pancake recipe but misplaced it one day and was set on making pancakes. so...i turned to my trusty allrecipes. :) i ditched the old recipe-these are phenomenal. i usually don't like strong butter flavors but these are divine. and they cook through perfectly which is a pretty rare find. i like my pancakes small so it made 8 for me. which is pretty little for my family. so i'd go with doubling it.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
ok so i really wanted to rate this 3 1/2 but i couldn't figure out how and they don't deserve a 3. they were good but not as amazing as i thought they'd be. the yellow cake is a little too bland-it needs a kick. the cookie part is excellent-very yummy. if you play around with the cake part (chocolate might be better or marble or homemade not cake mix) they'd deserve 5 stars.
