About this Cook
I'm a 30 year old mom to 3 (girl 12, girl 2, and my baby boy 2 months). I teach high school science. My primary focus right now is on weight loss and health. I grew up cooking a California version of soul food. My parents and grandparents used a ton of greeses, oils, and fats as well as lots of seasoning salt. We ate the same veggies over and over (corn, green beans, and spinach). My goal is to get to know all kinds of veggies and spices. I'm also interested in growing my own veggie and spice garden. I love the receipes that I have tried out from here so far and I can't wait to develop some to contribute.
My favorite things to cook
I'm in love with all tyoes of salads right now, and I love to make anything that uses my crock pot.
My cooking triumphs
Spring rolls, hollandaise sauce, and tomatillo soup.
My cooking tragedies
Egg plant :( for some reason it just comes out mushy.

Strawberry-Banana-Peanut Butter Smoothie
This smoothie was really not good at all. I only gave it a 2 because my daughter finished hers and said it was edible. The peanut butter after taste was strong and the strawberry flavor was masked. The only thing that I liked about the smoothie was the texture.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi
The sauce was outstanding and really made this a 5. I baked the fish on 450 for 15 minutes instead of frying. Very yummy.

Lucie's Vegetarian Chili
Yummy, was great, and my family didn't even realize how healthy it was. I omitted the carrots (as I don't believe they belong in chili). I also added more beans (an extra can of kidney and two cans of pinto). I didn't have bulgar wheat so I left that out. I used tomato sauce instead of tomato juice. This was not hot at all, which was a plus since my toddler had to have some. Very good receipe, thanks you.
