Slow Cooker Carolina BBQ

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
I'm a Yankee, born and bred, but IMO, THIS is what barbeque should be!!! OK, I know that there are those who will debate this, but I've traveled a lot, eaten a lot of BBQ from all around the country and to me, Eastern NC BBQ, with the wonderful vinegar tang, is just "it." And this is one of the best recipes out there - and certainly the easiest! Agree with other posters that a little liquid smoke only improves the flavor, but it's still delicious as written. Oh man, now my mouth is watering again - looks like my crockpot is going to be busy again this weekend!

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2013
Absolutely delicious! I made these for after shoveling out from the Blizzard of 2013 (Nemo) and WOW! Absolutely delicious! The perfect treat for a chilly morning after the nightmare of not having had heat for 24 hours! I figure I already burned off the calories trying to stay warm and shoveling! LOL. I had no problems fitting a full recipe in my bread machine - but I'm used to having a full dough cycle when using it for other dough recipes. Thanks so much for posting this - and thanks to those who left tips for preparing and freezing the dough in advance - I'll likely do that so I can have some ready to bake off one at a time in the future.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Easy and delicious! One of the better Monkey Bread recipes out there, IMO. For those who want to rate it low or pan it with bad reviews because it's sweet or has too much fat for them, bug off! If you don't want to make it, don't - no one is forcing you to by posting their recipes! Please feel free to go eat nuts, stones and raw grains and keep your judgmental self-righteous opinions to yourselves! Reviews are FOR THOSE WHO'VE MADE THE RECIPE! For what it IS - which is a gooey, sweet TREAT that NO ONE is advocating ANYONE eat on a daily basis - this recipe is a good one. Rant off.

Black-Eyed Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
Absolutely delicious. Made the recipe as written with the small exception of using frozen black eyed peas instead of canned. This will go into my rotation of quick and easy wintertime recipes. Fantastic!

Strawberries and Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
Yum! This is very similar to a dish called Grapes Romanoff where you use grapes (obviously ;-) and brown sugar instead of white sugar. Just mix the sour cream and brown sugar and serve over grapes. Also amazing with blueberries. Super simple, quite elegant and absolutely delicious! Great for a company meal. I'd make both this recipe and the Romanoff again for company...

Classic Goulash

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
While nowhere near what I've eaten (or made) as "goulash" - which is a Hungarian dish and doesn't even remotely resemble this dish - this IS, however, a delicious version of what we grew up in New England calling "American Chop Suey" (granted, it has nothing whatsoever to do with being either Chop Suey or resembling Chinese food, either). That said, despite the bizarre names - it's still yummy and easy and nourishing on a cold night - and good for leftovers, too. This one's a keeper for me.

Beef Nacho Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
Made this *almost* as written - just subsituted regular mayo for Miracle Whip as I don't care for it. And unfortunately, I have to say that this reciped just isn't my cup of tea. When it came out of the oven, it tasted distinctly too much like mayo, I didn't like it at all and I was afraid I'd have to throw it out. However, the leftovers the next day had a much better taste, but I still wouldn't make this again. I'm surprised, because I like everything in it...but apparently just not together. Oh well - that's why everyone has different tastes, I guess!

Clark Bars

Made these as written. Delicious. The only problem is that they're VERY rich and as a single woman, they make far too many! :-D I took most of the batch in to my doctor's office as part of my "share the calories" program. I may get free medical service for life after sharing these...

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
I've been making a similar version for years (and here I thought I made it up! LOL). The only difference in my method was that I sprinkled the taco seasoning on the chicken breasts and then browned them before baking in salsa. This way is just easier and you don't have the extra pan to wash. Delicious and good for you!

Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls

OMG - these are called Nime Chow at all the Asian restaurants here in RI and they're one of my absolute favorites! Perfect for a hot summer night. This is a delicious recipe and it's pretty darned close to the recipe from my favorite Thai/Vietnamese/Chinese place...YUM!

Feta Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
I made it as written (well, OK - I had crumbled feta instead of sliced ;-) and it was absolutely delicious! Super easy, especially since I used the new Oscar Meyer bacon that comes aleady pre-cooked! I'll definitely be making this again - both for myself and I'd make it for company, too!
