Toffee Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
I LOVED these! My favorite dessert so far! I made them for my co workers but couldn't resist the urge to leave them home for myself! I didn't use the nuts because of my allergies and couldn't find a toffee topping without almonds so skipped that step. I did use chocolate chips instead of bars..maybe thats why my chocolate was coming off the crust when it cooled.

Chocolate Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
This came out better than expected! After reading the reviews, I was a little worried it would be a dressed up pudding but it was fabulous! Made double the chocolate glaze. Would definitelty make again!

Pittsburgh Ham Barbecues

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I am originally from Pittsburgh so when I couldn't reach my mother to get her recipe I decided to try this one. The flavors are very similar but this sauce is thicker. Also, its very important to use Isleys chopped or "chipped" ham, if your region sells it. The ham makes this sandwich! My mothers recipe is quite different though, she uses the onion and butter, 1 bottle of Heinz chili sauce, fill the chili bottle with water, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and a 1 tablespoon of sugar. So the only reason I gave it this rating was because of the thickness, was hoping for a thinner sauce.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I've never had this type of cake before so I'm not sure how to compare it but it came out good. Cake was very moist but the whipped topping came out very thin. Wish I had mixed some cool whip with the topping to thicken it up before pouring it on the cake.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
I found 1 1/2 lbs of boneless ribs, perfect size for me, hubby and for some leftovers but I forgot to adjust the cooking time so it came out tough. Didn't think that could happen in a slow cooker or maybe I added too much broth. Not sure...but I'm sure it would have came out perfect. Very easy concept, I give it five (can't rate it worse because of my own beginners mistakes!) Next time I will use the a pork butt or shoulder,

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2011
After reading many reviews and tips I thought this would be a piece of cake ; ) was I wrong...the cake and frosting mixture had no flavor and dipping the balls in chocolate is not that easy if you never done it before but after a few misses I got down. I started the day attemping to make two types of balls, I started with red velvet and cream cheese combo, red cake started to crumble into the white chocolate dip even after freezing it for a few hours and the taste was just not what I was expeting. Never finished the choc/choc balls..they are still in the freezer

Brown Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
These are amazing...they would be great with a cup of coffee because they are on the swwet side. My icing did come out like a glaze but I think it worked out better that way. An "icing" would have been overkill on sweetness

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
Just made them..and they are great! I did soften the peanut butter in the microwave and that helped with the stirring and used milk chocolate instead of semi sweet chips..semi sweet would have been too rich. I cut mine into small squares and wish I had left them into "bars" the presentation on my dessert tray would have looked better

Candy Cane Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Soo easy!! I didn't realize until making it that I had bought mint extract instead of peppermint (not sure if there is a difference)but it turned out great. I added only 3/4 cup of crushed candy canes.... I don't think I would like that much crunch in my fudge. I did add just a few green sprinkles and some remaining crushed candy cane to top it off and it looks picture perfect. Hint: I used mini candy canes...so much easier than peeling 13!!
