About this Cook
I have been married to the love of my life sine 12/10/88, and have 2 beautiful girls. I am a Cosmetics Manager and Freelance Makeup Artist. Although I work crazy, insane retail hours, I'm very much a homebody, and I love cooking for my family & friends. I love spending time with my family & friends, my 3 animals, working out, reading & reality tv. Facebook is also a daily must! Life is a journey-live every day to it's fullest potential!! I lost 30 lbs. this year, I'm in the best shape of my life, both physically and mentally. I'm still a "foodie" but I'm now adapting recipes to make them lower in fat & calories for myself and my family.
My favorite things to cook
I love both cooking and baking, but baking is my zen passion. I love nothing more than spending the day baking Xmas cookies-and my family loves eating them! I love to collect cookbooks and currently own at least 150 of them!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking Xmas cookies with my 2 daughters is a great tradition, and one that I did with my mom, 2 sisters and grandmothers! Thanksgiving is another holiday that I cherish-gathering my family together to create a beautiful meal...priceless!!
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving dinner is always a triumph-getting everything cooked & on the table at the same time feels great!
My cooking tragedies
I'm very lucky-I've been cooking since I was 4 or 5 and have only 2 food tragedies...Thanksgiving 2008 I baked a crumb-topped pie; it wasn't getting brown so I put it under the broiler for LESS THAN 60 seconds...it caught on fire!! I was able to scrape the burnt part off & salvage it, but my daughter posted that as her facebook status!! Another time I made stir-fry. My mom said something about it being Friday the 13th, I said I didn't believe in stuff like that. I turned around, tripped over the electric cord & knocked the Entire contents of our dinner on the kitchen floor!!
