Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2014
You know when you're craving chocolate chip cookies, but don't want a complex recipe? This is your answer! These are the perfect go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe. Super easy, all made in one bowl. The ingredients are classic, and chances are you have them in your cupboard already. They only take about 10min to bake, so keep an eye on them as they brown quickly. Easy, quick and super yummy!

Amber's Penne Alla Vodka

Super super bland. I followed the recipe as noted, and even used very good quality canned plum tomatoes (san marzano), organic tomato paste & a spanish onion.

Pumpkin Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
Easy. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of these. I added golden raisins, which is probably a huge plus, as the recipe as-is doesn't have much flavour besides the Crisco. TIPS: I recommend adding lemon grind, all spice .. maybe a bit of cinnamon. While the texture was light and soft, they didn't have much to them. I don't think I'd I'd make them again. They tasted super bland.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2014
I had no issues with the basic white bread recipe, but I did find it too sweet. I'd be apt to leave the sugar out completely next time; it's not necessary.

French Onion Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2014
I've had some really high end ($$$$) onion soup, at well known restaurants, and I've gotta say, this was just as good. TIPS: - Take this recipe with a grain of salt; use it as a base. Taste and test throughout making it to add/subtract ingredients as YOU feel needed. - Use a mandeline to ensure the onions are cut very thin and consistent. - Let it sit. Let it sit and stand for at least a few hours, to really infuse the flavours. - Brown the onions! That's where all of the deep flavour comes from.

Lazy Man's Pierogi

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2014
Crack cassarole. Let's just call it what it is. This stuff looks like , but tastes like heaven. I did a few alterations, to add more flavour: - used a 1lb of FRESH button mushrooms (don't use canned - yuck!) - don't strain the sauerkraut. Keep that extra marinate flavor and add it all in. - sautéed the mushrooms and onions in the bacon fat (didn't use the recommended butter extra step; waste of a pain and why add a new fat?) - used a full 1lb of bacon. YUM. This is a new fav of mine. Definitely easy and can be modified with lower fat options (ie. remove bacon fat, low/no fat mushroom soup, ect)

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2013
Definitely a keeper! I cut down on the cheese (used 1/4c instead of a full 1/2c) and increased the broth a bit. Use fresh basil for the best taste. Great simple recipe for Orzo.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

BIG WINNER. My Italian husband said it reminded him of a traditional dinner, in Southern Italy. Clean and simple, but all the flavor you crave. Will definitely make this again soon.

Zippy Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
My husband used to call it Shepherd's Poop ... until I made this recipe! Amazing and easy. Just the added curry, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce this makes a full flavored meal. Ketchup isn't even needed! I modified the recipe slightly, by adding 2 lbs of lean ground beef (instead of 1lb), and it was amazing. Will definitely use this as inspiration again soon.

Carrot Dill Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
Yep! This is a great recipe. Super easy. NOTES: - Doesn't make a lot. Small 4 bowls? (REEEEALLY small bowls!) My carrots & stock reduced a lot during the simmer process, so I ended up adding in about 1/2 cup more liquid (stock). - Will definitely, double, if not triple next batch to get more out of it. - Used Skim milk, and it was still thick when I blended with an immersion blender. - To create a smooth, creamy texture siphon through cheese cloth. - Added a good 'handful' of fresh dill for a fresh, stronger taste. - Use vegetable stock instead of chicken for a vegan alternative.
