Country Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
I didn't have the parsley or thyme, but I made it anyways and it's super super yummy. Even my 12 year son said "oh man mom, this is better than the restaurants"

I followed directions exactly and it tastes good but came out grainy. Don't understand why.

Baked Aloha Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly with no subsitions. It was rather greasy due to the fat cooking off of the legs. The sauce, which smelled great before cooking, cooked down and once mixed with skin fat was a bit bland. The chicken was very tender and juicy, but I wish there was a way to of made that wonderful pre-baked flavor of the sauce stay. I'm no expert at cooking but I think next time perhaps I'll cook this with skinless chicken and add some brown sugar and corn starch to sweeten and thicken it a bit.

Corn Fritters

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I was craving corn fritters that were served in a restaurant in Alaska. So I decided to make some myself, along with a side of honey butter to dip them into. They were excellent. I think next time I'll add more sugar to the fritter dough just because I would like the fritters themselves sweeter, but they were excellent just as the recipe calls for.

Magic Cookie Bars from EAGLE BRAND®

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
These are so good! They don't last long in my house. In fact won't be making them very often to prevent weight gain! ha ha

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I usually hate to review if I didn't follow recipe exactly. Really my only change was I didn't have an onion on hand and I added a couple tbsp of flour whisked with super cold splash of water to thicken it up. Other than that it was exact and my whole family loved it! From my 12 year old son to my 87 year old grandma.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
These were super easy to make and way better than pancakes made with bisquick or complete pancake mixes. I'll definitely make them again.

Thai Chicken Curry in Coconut Milk

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
This was easy and inexpensive to make. I really enjoyed it. I would of given it 5 stars but I felt like it needed a little more curry flavor and a bit of heat. Maybe some chilli flakes or paste to give it a little kick. I loved it though.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2012
MAN THIS WAS GOOD! It just seemed to be the perfect blend of seasoning. I don't know if the celery made a difference but I had it in there. I used butter vs. Margarine.

OH MAN! I will never used boxed mac and cheese again! It was so yummy! I think I'm going to throw some bacon in next time for the heck of it.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
I loved this! Simple to make, most ingredients I have in pantry, family loved it, and not to mention from start to finish only took me about 20 minutes or so. Pretty cool for a weeknight inexpensive dinner if you ask me.

Basic Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
I hate to be the girl to review a recipe when I've changed a thing or two, but I have to. Instead of using shorting I grated a stick of cold butter in. This was my first time making biscuits from scratch. So yummy!!! I used one of my kids sippy cups as a biscuit cutter. It worked great and made good biscuits about the size as the ones from a can I used to buy from the dough boy. Super easy, yummy, quick, and I had all ingredients on hand. I'll never buy canned dough again!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2012
I've made this once before and it was such a huge hit in my house that I have a batch in the oven again tonight. So amazingly yummy and a bargain when those apples go on sale. First time I made it with Granny smith apples and now I got some Galas in the oven and this time I used a sugar/splenda blend for the cup of white sugar. I'll edit this review and say how it turned out.

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
I had this at a BBQ and loved it! I got verbal instructions from the host but of course I forgot and thank you all recipes because this is it! The only thing I changed, not much of a change, is I used 4 crowns of broccoli and MORE BACON! After chopping up 2 crowns of broccoli it seemed there was too much sauce. Perhaps my crowns were small. I love this stuff. I have it chilling in fridge for thanksgiving dinner and of course I already snuck a bowl.

Shmunky's Colby Jack Cheddar Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
I wanted cheese biscuits and this was the only one I found that didn't call for bisquick type mixes. I make everything from scratch here. I had all ingredients on hand and my whole family had double helpings. Very good. I did cut the salt in half but I think next time I'll follow the recipe to the T. Very good, easy, and quick. Just the way I like my recipes.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2013
I'll keep this review straight to the point. This was AMAZING and simple. I've been making chicken fried steak for years and it has always been mediocre. Well not anymore. The hot sauce and garlic give it a kick and the gravy is incredibly easy to make and can be seasoned up however you feel fit. I personally always add a teaspoon of my better than boullion base to my sauces. Just my preference.

Kielbasa and Potato Bake

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
I made this to take to a potluck and had 3 people ask me for the recipe. It was good but I think it could be better with some cheese on top and perhaps some onion and bell pepper mixed in and more seasonings. Just my opinion. I made recipe as it is stated here. Diced potatoes small and came out completely cooked.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: May 11, 2013
I made it exact as recipe states and I thought it was good, but not spectacular. It seemed a bit bland and basic. Next time I will add some good spices and more salt and pepper. Definitely quick and easy. I will make again and tweak it for flavor.
