Chocolate Pretzel Treats

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2014
I've been making this recipe for years. Thanks for sharing it, little ones like helping with this one too. The treats look so festive on a platter, I usually mix them in with other Christmas cookies or brownies and it looks like I labored much. As some others have said, you can vary this. I use Rollo's and place two pecans instead of the candies for easy turtles.

Restaurant-Quality Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2014
I've been making this recipe for a few years now. I am surprised it's not even more popular. Whenever I make it people rave over it and often ask for the recipe. I disagree with the suggestion to add milk. Add the half and half, it's much creamier with it and the taste is far superior. I use fat free half and half to save calories and that works fine. The herbs also give the soup it's great flavor. To make it low fat you can play around with the ingredients. I will omit the flour and only use the potato flakes as thickening. Cornstarch can be omitted too. This works great as long as you don't skip the half and half. It's just too thin and watery if the thickening agents are omitted without using the half and half. Also try different flavors of potato flakes and skip the cheese for variety. Thanks for a great soup recipe everyone in my family loves.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2013
This is my go to bread recipe. I've tried many and this is the one I always go back to. A few things I do for personal preference. I use 2 cups of white bread flour and one cup of whole wheat. We just aren't crazy about the texure or taste of whole wheat. I also sub coconut oil for the shortening. It gives a light sweetness as well as being a healthier option. Other than that I do add the salt to the liquids and bake using the white and light bread settings as suggested here. I haven't tried the other cycles as this works just fine. - cheryl

Quick and Easy Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
Super easy and good. I made a few changes for my own prefernce. I used beef broth, omitted celery as I don't care for it in veggie soup and I chopped cabbage and cooked it in the broth for about 45 minutes before adding the other ingredients. Also I added sauteed onions and a pinch of oregano, basil, garlic powder and cayenne pepper to sub for creole seasoning. Yum!-crewser
