I am former Federal Reserve Bank Economic Analyst who left the job to study culinary arts at The Culinary Institute of America. I have great passion for food writing, traveling, cooking and teaching. I am lucky to work at Allrecipes.com video group and in my own time, write a culinary blog Snacking in the Kitchen (www.snackinginthekitchen.com)
My favorite things to cook
I like recipe-free fusion cooking. Having a privilege to travel through the United States and some of the world, I combine my favorite ingredients in dishes. I take a straight forward, no-fuss approach to cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in Russia and have had luck with parents cooking traditional Russian dishes (borcht!) along with dishes from other Soviet Union republics. A kitchen was always a happy place.
My cooking triumphs
Graduating at the top of my class at The Culinary Institute of America.
Publishing for Southern Living Magazine, Fitness Magazine and Cuisine at home magazine.
Successfully teaching culinary classes to adults and kids.
My cooking tragedies
Killing the yeast a few times when baking. Breaking my electric mixer by overworking it while making challah dough. And I broke a share amount of hollandaise sauces.
