Janet's Famous Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
I have been making this recipe since it was posted. I love it. I have made changes over the years. I use half all purpose and half wheat flour. I add a tsp. vanilla, and walnuts ILO pecans. I bake for 90 minutes on 300. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Spaghetti Pie III

I have made this three times now. My family loves it. I make a double batch of the meat and sauce. I add the remaining sour cream to the noodles. The cheese and sour cream make this dish so yummy!

Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
I pretty much followed the recipe. I did only make a half batch, because it sounds like it is not good the next day. I added fresh garlic and season salt to the beef. In addition, I cooked bell pepper and onions in the meat. It needs something. Just have not put my finger on it. My father loved it. My husband liked the meat. I thought it was okay. The kids picked through it. I do believe that tater tots are the way to go. I was not to crazy about the french fries. I might try it with tomato soup next time. It definitely needs something to make it stay together. Cooling it down makes the meat thicker, but the cheese and fries turned icky when they are cold.

Sausage and Sauerkraut Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
I have to admit that I would not of put these ingredients together. I was lazy after doing the Polar bear Plunge into my lake this morning (It was only 0 degress out). I did a search for sausage and kraut, because I had it on hand. It was quite good. My husband and dad ate most of the pan. I did have to change things a little. I used Stewed Tomatoes. I had no Elbow mac. I used 4 cps dried spaetzle. It looked like a spaghetti casserole. Definitely needed salt. I also added more cheese to the top, plus some parmesan. I do think I will play with it next time. I think that ground italian sausage would be better with some saute onion. Maybe, more kraut if I use the Spaetzle again. If I do use the spaetzle, I will cut it down to 3 cups. It is a keeper. Thanks!

Seafood Fettuccine

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
Most excellent. But, as usual, I had to play with it some. I used 1/4 red-1/4 green onions, and whole tomato (chopped & seeded). I deglazed the pan with white wine before I added my scallops. I did not use shrimp. I used large scallops chopped in 4's. I also used heavy cream. I seasoned with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and oregano. It was a little rich. I think that I will use less parm next time.

Raspberry Peach Crumble

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2007
This was awesome. I had picked raspberries the day before and needed a way to use some up. I did double the cinnamon and add it to both the fruit mix and the crumble. I will triple the crumble part next time.

Fettuccine Alfredo V

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
This was one of the best I have ever made. I did cut the parm. like some said. I used only 1 1/4 cps. I would definitely use a 1 lb. of pasta next time. My neighbor had some fresh basil and rosematy. I added it with the galic. Not a lot. A couple of broken up sprigs and leaves. I also through in a couple of sprinkles of nutmeg before serving. I served it with tequila-lime marinated turkey breast. It was yummy.

The taste was right, but they were as hard as a rock. Not sure what I did wrong. Would like something a little more moist.

Broccoli Salad III

I changed it up a bit. I had eaten a similar one at a party and changed acording to that recipe. I used regular bacon, red onion and almonds instead of sunflowers. My husband begs me to make it weekly and everyone wants the recipe. It is a keeper!

Cajun Seafood Pasta

Did not change a thing. It was not cheap to make, but it was excellent. I gave the leftovers to my neighbor to eat later and his wife found it and ate it first. He is now begging me to make it again. Great dish for a dinner party with french bread and a salad.

Slow Cooker Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2004
My family loved this. I browned the porkchops. I also put the soup and water into the pan that I use for browning, so I did not miss any of the good pan drippings. I put half the soup mixture in the bottom of the cooker, then added the potatoes. I put the porkchops on the top of the potatoes and poured the remaining soup on top. I cooked it for 7 hours on low. I drained the green beans and added them to the mixture, and turned it up to high for another hour. It is a keeper!

Prime Rib Roast

This recipe would be better on a pork tenderloin. If you are looking for a traditional prime recipe, than this is not the one for you. It did make the best sandwiches the next day.
