Baked Doughnuts

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
I made these for our tailgate Oct. 1 to have in the parking lot line. The only thing I changed was to reduce baking time to 10 min. I used my own recipe for Pumpkin Cream Cheese Icing to top them while a little warm. They were so wonderful! A person we feel obligated to take to games insisted she'd bring store-bought donuts so no one would have to eat mine if they weren't any good. Not one person, including herself, even opened the store-bought box! I also didn't have the problem as others that they didn't last long. I made 4 dozen, some to take and some to keep. The ones I kept at home were still moist up to the day they were finished off 6 days after baking. (The icing may have made that difference though.) My husband has aked for these every couple of days now! The only thing to remember is that these are cake doughnuts and are going to be a little heavy. However, sifting the flour does help if they turn out too heavy. Thanks for posting-these are a new breakfast staple in our house!

Maple Dill Carrots

Wonderful!!! I did use lemon pepper in place of the salt and pepper (salt intake) but left everything else as is. Just wonderful! A very nice change from plain old carrots!

Acorn Squash Slices

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
You got my husband AND grandma to eat veggies!! Thank you so much! I've always loved acorn squash among almost all other veggies, but was the only one who would eat it. But not anymore! I did peel and cube the squash like others so it would seem more edible to picky eaters, but that's the only change I made-it's perfect as is! Thanks again!!

Special Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
These were such a hit! I made 3 doz. for a potluck and they were gone half an hour after we arrived! Everyone wanted the recipe and those who didn't get one wanted to know about "those eggs someone brought that so-and-so told me were so great". (I waited to tell people I brought them just to get an honest opinion from them.) Now I'm asked to bring them everywhere! Thanks for a great recipe!

Cream Cheese Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
The best chicken ever!! Even husband liked it so much he ate leftovers! (is the world ending!?) Made one minor change in that I used olive oil instead of butter to saute the mushrooms (dietary need). Didn't change anything else and it was perfect!! Thanks for a new favorite!

Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
Fantastic! I took this to a Chiefs tailgate last season and had to email the recipe to 6 people! You were right that even kraut-haters like this dip, one of the six didn't even realized there was any in it eventhough it's plainly visible (he thought it was cheese!) and still wanted the recipe after he found out. Decided he just hadn't had any good kraut recipes before! I also make this at home for my husband on weekends. He asks for it every week!

Cheesy Tuna Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
This was wonderful! The only thing I changed was to omit the green and red bell peppers-my grandma doesn't like them. There's only her, me and my husband but leftovers only lasted one more meal! They both raved about it and insisted I keep this recipe-somewhat unusual for them! Thank you so very much for the post!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
I made this for one of our tailgates recently. I followed the recipe exactly without any additions or alterations. Everyone raved and had to take home some of the leftovers! I've had several of our fellow tailgaters ask for the recipe as well. This is The best chocolate cake recipe I've ever tried! Thanks so much for posting.

Fried Dill Pickles

These were great! I was so glad to come across this recipe since I lost mine a while back! We had them at our tailgate and everyone loved them! A couple of my inlaws from up north in Wash. state came down for thier first football game had never heard of these before. They were a little leary of them at first, but once they tried them they kept eating them! They both said they need to come to MO more often now and try more things they don't have up there! Thanks so much for replacing my lost recipe! :)

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
WOW! I took this to our last tailgate and seven people finished the whole thing! This is by far the best rum cake I've ever had! I was really surprised. I come from a "from-scratch family" and have never used a cake mix before in the 20 years I've been baking. I just didn't have the time to do it from scratch this time though, and am happy about it because I would have never known how wonderful this cake is! Who would have guessed-sometimes a mix can be better than homemade!

Golden Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
GREAT!! My husband loves pork chops and thought this was one of the better recipes I've tried. We've had it many times and like it the way it is. Some times I've added thyme, basil, parsley, oregano and rosemary and it's still wonderful! Definitely a keeper!

Blueberry Strata from Sara Lee

Absolutely wonderful! Our favorite! It's sweet, but not too sweet, and the cream cheese adds a creamy texture that is just divine! The sauce was great too, not too sweet as I thought it might be, and was a very nice compliment to the dish. We will have this many more times!

Crab Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
This time it ended up a tad runny. I'm not sure what happened. I've never had problems with dips before including this one. I assume I mismeasured something somehow. The three times I've made it before it was a perfect consistency. The flavor is just great and everyone always loves it. Thankfully I only made it for us at home this time and didn't embarass myself in front of others! This is an often requested dip for tailgates and parties. Thanks so much for a great dip recipe! :)
