Old Fashioned Stuffing

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
I gave this four stars only because I made changes. I took advice of others and added 1 tsp. thyme, 1 tsp. more sage, 2c. more broth which I used to baste during baking and used 1/2 croutons 1/2 bread. I also added a can of mushrooms and let it sit in the fridge overnight. It came out so moist and so good people kept going back for more. One person told me it was the best stuffing he had ever had! That meant a lot because he thinks stuffing is the best thing on earth! Thanks so much for a wonderful recipe!!

Baked Doughnuts

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
I made these for our tailgate Oct. 1 to have in the parking lot line. The only thing I changed was to reduce baking time to 10 min. I used my own recipe for Pumpkin Cream Cheese Icing to top them while a little warm. They were so wonderful! A person we feel obligated to take to games insisted she'd bring store-bought donuts so no one would have to eat mine if they weren't any good. Not one person, including herself, even opened the store-bought box! I also didn't have the problem as others that they didn't last long. I made 4 dozen, some to take and some to keep. The ones I kept at home were still moist up to the day they were finished off 6 days after baking. (The icing may have made that difference though.) My husband has aked for these every couple of days now! The only thing to remember is that these are cake doughnuts and are going to be a little heavy. However, sifting the flour does help if they turn out too heavy. Thanks for posting-these are a new breakfast staple in our house!

Beer Dip I

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
Everyone raved about this all day! So creamy and delicious, and really does go best with pretzels. I tasted it to see with Tostitos, and it just wasn't the same, so continued with pretzels. Every one wants the recipe now, and my husband keeps asking for more! We've had it twice and will be having many more times to come! As of 10/26/06 I have made this numerous times now. My husband even wants it at home quite often and complains when we run out! I didn't take it to a tailgate that we decided to do breakfast for though. I was told that from now on if I don't bring it I would be banned from my own tailgate! Because everyone likes it so much, I now have to times everything by 5 as our tailgate neighbors come over for some too! I've also used various beers to find the perfect one. The best one I've used is Miller Lite. As good as it is already, it was a little better with this. I think I've given this recipe to more people than I have with any other ever! Thank you so very much for the perfect football tailgate dip!

Easy Pea Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
This is great!! I used frozen thawed peas instead of canned (salt intake) and it was wonderful! It gets requested at least once a week!

Green Chili Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2006
This was pretty good. I gave it 4 out of 5 because it seemed to kind of bland without some additions since we all like a lot of flavor. I did add taco seasoning to the beef, sauted the onions, and added some garlic and black olives. We topped it with all the usual taco toppings and it turned out real well. All in all a good recipe. We'll definatly have again with the additions!

Easy Almond Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2006
Somewhat bland for my taste. I made it again however with a few simple alterations. It came out better but I'm not done playing with it just yet. I added chicken bouillon instead of soup, and used cream of mushroom soup. I also added more garlic and used red pepper flakes and a little cinnamon. My grandma liked it this way, and she hates all seasonings except butter and salt, but my husband and I think it needs more tweeking. I will make again because I really think this is a good base recipe. The toasted almonds add a flavor to chicken that we all agreed is very nice. Good recipe, just needs more umph.

Breakfast The Night Before

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
We thought this was pretty good. It's really quick to throw together and tastes great. The only thing I did differently was to add a can of mushrooms because we love them. It's also very versitile. You could add just about anything you want to it. Next time I'm going to try using sausage and ham mixed together and my husband wants me to try using colby-monterey. Thanks so much, we really enjoy this dish!

Auntie's Buttermilk Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
This has to be exactly the recipe my great granny always used! It was lost several years ago and I've been looking ever since. This is perfect the way it is, absolutely no need to change a thing! I didn't have the problem of needing extra baking time either. The perfect comfort food! I top it with the buttermilk sauce from a recipe on this site-Apple Cake with Buttermilk Sauce. That's how granny always served it, and the sauce recipe was with the cake recipe! Thank you for giving me back a piece of my childhood! :)

Yummiest Green Beans Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2006
I didn't have the problem with the sauce not sticking to the beans. It is a bit overpowering though. Served with soy/garlic marinated chops. Thought it would complement them, but the flavor of the beans just took over. They are flavorful though, and will try to find something to better serve them with.

Bill's Beefuna Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
I thought this seemed so odd but had to try it anyway. I'm glad I did! Very juicy and didn't fall apart. I did let the mixture sit, covered, in the fridge for about an hour as others mentioned. The flavors melded together wonderfully! We could taste both meats and loved it! I've had requests for these again, and my family never asks to have anything. I always have to decide what to make on my own, so it's a nice change for something to be requested! Great job Bill and keep your wonderful recipes coming!

Garlic and Onion Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2006
These were great. Moist and didn't fall apart! I did omit the extra salt for dietary reasons as W. sauce has so much, but otherwise followed as written. Everyone loved them! I believe mixing everything then refridgerating helps the flavor so much. Thanks for a keeper!

Honey Mustard BBQ Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
These were pretty good. During the winter we put these in the crock pot on low for about 8hrs. They aren't our favorite, but are a nice change every one in a while. My husband isn't real big on sweet pork recipes so we don't have it often, but he does like this with boneless chops shredded into pasta.

Fruit Dip V

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
This dip is wonderful!! I doubled it to take to our tailgate and came home with an empty bowl! It's sweet but not too sweet like ones I've tried that contain marshmellow whip. The only change I made was to use vanilla yogurt because that was all I had on hand. Also, I liked the fact that it was a little thick becuase it didn't drip off the fruit right away like some do. Everyone wanted the recipe and couldn't stop raving about it! Even my husband who absolutely hates yogurt and hardly ever eats fruit had more than his fair share. Thank you so much for sharing this great recipe!

Another lost recipe found! No need to change anything, this cake is perfect as is! My family is so happy I found this. We always top it with fresh strawberry sauce and strawberry slices. The perfect summer comfort dessert!

Pistachio Crusted Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
Fantastic! Made as stated and LOVED it! We got 10 chicken tenders out of this and with only two of us eating tonight-they were gone! I had to make more for my husband when he got home and he ate all 10 at once! We will definitely be making this a regular dish!

Pecan Dijon Chicken

YUMMY! Made exactly as written and loved it! When my grandma was still alive this was one of her favorites so I made this a lot. I've never even altered it in any way like I eventually do with most recipes! So moist and flavorful it doesn't need any changes!

Sizzling Southwest Burgers

These are great! We had them at one of our tailgates and everyone raved about them! They grilled up real nice, didn't crumble and fall apart. They were really moist too. Perfect! Since then, my husband and I have had them at home several times. They have become a favorite of ours. Thanks so much for the great recipe!
