Excellent dish. This can also be made vegetarian by increasing the potatoes and eliminating the chicken, which doesn't change the dish much at all. We served it over saffron rice and with grilled Naan bread. Very easy to prepare.

Outstanding. My family adored this chowder. We served it in hollowed out sourdough bowls, toasted in a 400 degree oven before pouring the soup in. If you live in Texas, Central Market has the Knorr Leek Soup mix. Some variants that work really well: 1/2 onion sauteed in the bacon fat, 1/2 cup celery added with the carrots. A really great soup.

Really good and satisfying with some crusty bread and a salad for dinner. I doubled the recipe and that worked well. I made a few very minor changes. I sauteed the onions and garlic in a butter/olive oil mixture, instead of margarine. I did swap the light beer for some German Oktoberfest brew (it's against our religion to have light beer in the house). I boiled it a bit longer to make sure the alcohol was cooked off, since the German beer is stronger. I also didn't have enough cornstarch because of said doubled recipe, so I substituted brown rice flour for the cornstarch 1 for 1, and it worked fine. I imagine flour would be OK, too, or even potato starch. Instead of bacon, which I was too lazy to cook up, I sprinkled fresh chives on top. Would definitely make again.

This was OK not great, but that's probably my fault because I couldn't find tamarind concentrate. The closest thing I could find was Mexican tamarindo juice, so I used a half cup of it and cut the water. It was tasty, just not awesome. I'd try it again but with proper ingredients next time.

This was OK, but a little bland. I'd make it again, but would probably add some mustard seed or something with a little zing.

Eh, I liked this one not so much. No one in the family really cared for it. It wasn't bad, just kinda odd and not real tasty. We love garbanzos and have made Chana before, this one just didn't have that Indian restaurant taste to it.

Delicious and easy, would definitely make it again. Like others, I skipped the food coloring, but the family complained that it didn't look right, although it tasted great. I marinated for 6 hours.

This was tasty, but like others, it did not blend well like I've had in Indian restaurants. I added a bit more liquid, which helped. Tasted good, but the texture wasn't the best.
