About this Cook
Up until about 10 years ago, I hated cooking...loathed it....despised it. But I was poor so it was either learn how to cook or me and my children starve. So I began with the frozen and canned stuff. (barf) Then I got braver and started mixing actual food in with it....then I watched friends and got tips and I started to get better. Eventually, I started following recipes and actually had a few go-to recipes that made me and my family happy. Now, I'm a stay at home mom and have much more free time to explore the world of cooking which I must admit is like Disneyland to me. I love when my family is happy and satisfied with my food. Working in an office never brought me happiness but this bliss.
My favorite things to cook
Whatever my husband likes, I try to make it. It my joy in life to make my family happy with my cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a culture where men cook really well. I actually dont remember my mom cooking much, she's a really good baker though. My dad and step dad were the chefs and they made all types of asian and pacific island foods. Luckily for me, I married into a Latino culture where the men dont cook and so not only did I have to learn to cook but I had to learn to cook with different types of flavors. I love it too much and I can't say I'll ever go back.
My cooking triumphs
I'm not yet to the point of making my own recipes but a few people have said Im pretty good at this gig.
My cooking tragedies
you mean like cooking with frozen and canned foods...

Sweet Hot Mustard Chicken Thighs
How odd, I didn't like this one bit. The recipes by chef john usually become a family fave. It was plenty spicy and sorta resembled a wasabi taste which I hate. Maybe if I omitted the dry mustard powder, it should be okay.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
the husband loved it! i had some almond flour that I had and haven't used so I used that. I also happened to have a small packet of xanthan gum which is the stabilizer for the almond flour. i used about 1 1/4 tsp of xanthan gum for 1 1/2 cups of flour. came out great. i used regular flour for the topping though so i'd say this was a hybrid gluten free muffin but it was a hit in our house.

Homemade Hamburger Buns
Delicious! You really won't be able to eat store bought bread again. My MIL keeps asking for it too.
