Dad's Jerky Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2014
I used one of the McCormick Grill Mate marinades as a base, then followed the recipe; it still seemed a little bland so in went a bit of red wine vinegar, cajun spice, ground garlic, red pepper flakes, and a lovely lemon lime spice blend. Awesome!

Diane's Colcannon

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2014
As a full Irish O'Nolan, we never had nor have I developed a taste for kale despite the claim that this was it one of the original ingredients of colcannon. This dish was an instant hit for my potato loving family! Made as directed, it will feed the Irish in you.

Cheddar Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2014
I used a similar recipe from Real Simple magazine that used crushed butter crackers (Ritz) rather than the bread crumbs. Equally delicious, and super juicy chicken!

Chef John's Classic Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2013
Great, easy recipe! But then most of Chef John's are. Used sour cream, beef tenderloin, and fresh vegetables. So easy.

Baked Potato

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
Excellent, simple recipe; like some, I'll coat with Pam olive or similar, or even rub with olive oil, then sprinkle or roll in various seasonings depending on my mood that night. Finishing it on the grill after baking gives it a smokey taste that makes this recipe hard to beat. Thanks!

Coleslaw Crisp

Reviewed: May 23, 2012
I was skeptical I admit when I realized I was to bake this coleslaw, but the cheese and breadcrumbs only enhance the flavor and the coleslaw mixture stays crisp. My husband loved it as well, and we kept it in the fridge and reheated it a couple of times for a quick side dish.

Irresistible Italian Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
Unbelievably tasty! I was skeptical, but the combinations of spices and heat transform a boring corn side dish into something special. I used a micro-steamable bag of corn, then followed the recipe. Use the high heat recommended. Delish!

Very Old Meatloaf Recipe

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2012
Tried this and Grandma was on to something with the apple! Has a different spin than the same old meatloaf. I know some Gaydos'es..

Marinated Venison

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
I'm sure this is great for someone who doesn't like the taste of venison, but in Central PA we are born and bred on on it. I should have followed my natural instincts and pan fried the tender backstrap that I used for this recipe the way I normally do. Bottom line: If you don't like the taste of wild game, don't eat it, but please don't offer recipes that completely ruin it either.

Tasty Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
I loved this recipe so much last year at Easter that I searched through my 27 pages of side dishes so I could make it again this year! I've never been a big fan of Green Bean Casseroles until I tasted this one. The soy sauce, onions, and bacon, and red pepper mesh beautifully to spice up the old standard.
