Chicken Creole with Chile Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
It seems like the heat replaced flavor in this recipe. More and different seasonings are in order for the sauce, too.

Rice Balls a la Tim

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I think these would benefit from less rice and more ground beef.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I thought the meat was bland, the gravy was bland and the whole thing was greasy. Maybe I did something wrong? I am not going to try it again to find out.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I made this with McIntosh apples because they were CHEAP. It was the first time I'd made an apple pie in several years and it turned out great. I think the pie would benefit from some spices (at the very least cinnamon) for my taste, though.

Amish Potato Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
This is awesome! I cut down the sugar to 1/2 cup and would use even less next time. The recipe is labor intensive, but potato salad, to me, is a special get-together food that I only eat occasionally. Thus it is worth the work.

Bean with Bacon

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I only used half the bacon, but realized it really needs the full amount. A good recipe, different than anything else I make. Remember to take out the bay leaf before serving!

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
Delicious, even without the gnocchi! I left it out because I was on a tight budget. I diced the carrots instead of shredding. I'm looking forward to trying this with the gnocchi.

Loose Meat on a Bun, Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I've never had restaurant loose meat, so I have nothing to compare this to. It was good, if a bit bland. It's a good alternative to sloppy joes.

Suki's Spinach and Feta Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
easy, healthy, good...a trifecta! Now if it were only a bit cheaper. I used a full (around 10 oz) bag of spinach and left out the red pepper flakes.

Chicken Stew with Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
This is just like Mama used to make. ;) I used leftover Thanksgiving turkey in place of the chicken.

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
I double the spinach and use half of the salt and butter called for. That way I can still count it as a vegetable! Thank you for the different recipe.

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
This is a good recipe to double or triple to feed a crowd. I use unpeeled red potatoes to save money and uncover the dish after 30 minutes to brown the potatoes. Thank you for the recipe!

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
This is a lot of work for what I consider a side dish, and I had a hard time finding the Arborio rice. But it is worth the effort for a special occasion! My family and guests liked it a lot and I personally thought it was delicious.

Colonial Brown Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
I use powdered buttermilk mix (found in the baking aisle), so I always have all the ingredients on hand. This is so fast and so yummy. And it's whole grain...a healthier option for a starch side at dinnertime. Thank you for the recipe!

Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
On the upside, these were quick and easy. On the downside, the taste and texture weren't great. They tasted like they were made from a Bisquick mix to me. Thank you for the novel recipe!

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
I have tried A LOT of recipes from this website, and this is one of my favorites! The only changes I made: I omitted the last tsp of salt, I left the cover off of the pan for the last 15 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce, and next time I will probably cut the amount of celery seed in half. I forsee myself making this often!
