The servings are more like 6-8 unless you're a pig and can eat a quarter of a pie! ;)

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Rich yet not overly sweet. Even the most amateur chef can get this right (my boyfriend made it for us!). Great with some cookies on a cold rainy night.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
This is a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. I used 3 golf-ball sized lemons for this recipe. I'm not a fan of meringue, so instead I used whipped topping with a touch of piping gel (to stiffen it up so it would hold its shape after I piped it). Of course I baked the pie for 10 minutes and let it cool before I added the whipped topping. A fan favorite!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

I accidentally added a full cup of whole milk my mistake but I think that made them extra moist. Definitely do not overmix this batter!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
Nice sour taste! Haha. :) I used regular limes because, well, I didn't want to squeeze 100 key limes. I used about 10 or 12 limes. It was creamy and held it's shape well. The 6 coworkers who tried it said they liked it. I recommend cutting fairly small slices because it's so rich.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2010
I only had whipped topping, so I incorporated that into the cream cheese. It was just as good! I actually forgot I added it and still added POWDERED sugar (because I didn't want grainy frosting with plain white). It wasn't bad at all. So just add sugar to taste. It was very soft and smooth.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2010
I didn't want to use separate cake pans for the layers. I figured I'd cut one cake into 3 layers. NOT so. Adding the instant coffee to the cake made it look ugly. Maybe I'd try it again, maybe.

Banana Cream Pie III

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
You have to love, and I mean LOVE the taste of banana cream pudding mix in order to use it here. I thought the mix was too artificial tasting. Anyway, I also made the mistake of grabbing cook and serve banana cream pudding mix and that ruined my filling because it would not set. So make sure you get INSTANT banana cream mix. I would have prefered using the two vanilla pudding mixes and just more fresh bananas on the bottom!

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
This was a big hit at work. Although be forewarned: you must use whole milk with this recipe otherwise it will not set firmly. People loved the flavor it was just runny as heck. I used a ready-made graham cracker crust. I also firmed up some whipped topping with 2 tbsp of piping gel per cup to get that awesome professional-looking border. They actually thought I bought the pie!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
You have to LOVE the onion soup flavor in order for this recipe to work. I didn't like it so much. I didn't have time to cook the turkey slowly, so I set it on high for about 5 hours. It was fine. A little dry, so I'm sure the slower cooking will keep it from drying out as much. I was shocked there wasn't any water or bouillon added. I will next time just to make it very juicy.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
I read the recipe wrong and it still turned out great! I forgot the chile peppers and I bought green enchilada sauce over red--because I like it better. It was still tasty as heck! I don't have a slow cooker, so I used a regular pot and only simmered for 2 hours. Great for a cold/rainy day!

Chris' Bay Area Burger

The olive oil allows you to place directly on the grill without oiling it up beforehand. You definitely have to love the taste of basil because it is very strong in this recipe. Overall--simple and tasty.

Manicotti Italian Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
VERY easy and delicious! I used basic Ragu traditional sauce, but I'm sure the sky's the limit with the varieties out there. Definitely follow the "lightly salt" the pasta part because there is plenty of it in the meat and pasta sauce (unless of course you make your own). I HIGHLY recommend this to a beginner. I scaled down to 4 servings but it made about 6.

Marshmallow Fudge Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2007
I agree. It was more like cake than fudge. I think I'd get better results with a brownie mix than using this recipe. Also, I wish I would have used the mallow cream instead. Finally, I used powder, but some more precise directions would be nice. Overall, it made my tummy hurt after eating a piece.
