I don't remember a time when I didn't love to cook. My mother made cookies 6 dozen at a time for the 8 of us kids and dad, and they never lasted very long. I started experimenting at about 9 yrs old with spices and fancy recipes that she never dared to try, and haven't stopped since. At 40 I wish I had stayed on that path, but veared off into other things that never kept my interest very long, so I am back at it and trying to figure out where I want to go with it.. starting with a cooking class tonight at the local high school. Nothing makes me feel better then creating something that makes other people feel good, and food cooked well works everytime..
My favorite things to cook
I love Italian food, and learning the more traditional ways to cook it is my newest goal.. I have no real preference, just trying something new and learning new skills and techniques brings me the most joy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My most favorite family cooking events is when my husband and kids, and any one else thats around is in the kitchen with me, and we are getting a meal ready for a family event. My niece got married this summer and I had so much fun preparing the food with my extended family and learning her husbands family dishes.. Meals at my aunts camp on the lake are memory makers every time, and spark my creativity.
My cooking triumphs
Pumpkin cheese cake
Chicken and sausage cacciatori
Pork Wonton Soup
I just got a kitchenaid from a friend so the possibilities are endless
My cooking tragedies
recreating a green onion puree for pasta recipie I tried.. it wasn't horrid, but did not taste like I had expected..
I was making homemade beans, and after 2 days, they still never cooked through,, bizarre..
