Coral and me
About this Cook
I'm a recently married (Hey, Mrs.Robinson!) early 30's gal with no kids (yet) that loves to cook! I've been blessed with a loving husband, great family and friends and a rewarding job as a sign language interpreter. My hubby and I love to garden and I've recently dubbed myself an offical "dahlia gardener". I drive a coral and white vintage 1957 Nash Metropolitan, with black and white houndstooth upholstry, which is hands down the cutest little car ever manufactured :) Thankfully I'm married to a genius mechanic who helps me maintain the rusted beauty. We aspire to aquire some property outside of the city one day to and venture into a more homestead style of living.
My favorite things to cook
Right now some of my favorite dishes to prepare are borscht, crispy orange ginger beef stirfry and fish tacos.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and I making Cream of Wheat topped with brown sugar and milk on chilly winter mornings. Eggs benedict on Christmas morning. My Aunt Marion's amazing pork tenderloin. My dad's homemade burgers. Yelling "ai yai yai arriba!" while blending lime margaritas at family gatherings.
My cooking triumphs
Nailing my Mother in Law's recipe for Bee Hoon the first time around, much to the delight of my hubby.
My cooking tragedies
Forever the burner of garlic toast!

Spicy Spaghetti Squash
WARNING!!: I followed the suggestion a reviewer made to cook the squash in the microwave. I used a common glass casserole dish I'd used a zillion times in the oven, and I'm positive it must have been microwave safe. After about 12 min it was done, I took it out, set it on the counter and BAM! it shattered into a million little pieces.

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets
I didn't heat up the glaze mixture, but used it as a marinade. Very yummy :)
