About this Cook
I have always had a little cooking knowledge, but recently decided to create a little more routine for our weekends (Now I love making different dishes for Sunday mornings). This has spread in to other nights of the week. We have two labs that appreciate good recipes (Diabetic Dog Treats for Daisy).
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast, baking, and I am a great biscuit maker :).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making dog treats for Daisy and L.B. weekly.
My cooking triumphs
Sausage Gravy. 1st time out was great. And learning how to blanch meat to make the dog treats liver process so much easier and less disgusting.
My cooking tragedies
My first time making dog treats. Handling, cutting, processing, cooking, and smelling the liver grossed me out so bad I had to avoid meat for a couple days. I have a hard time with raw red meats and innards which stems from some past experiences in my Navy Service.

MMMMM... Brownies
Easy peasy. I told my fiancée I was going to make brownies from scratch and she seemed a little skeptical of the potential outcome. Well she loved these. I like them too. One not of caution, they came out a little gooey (which is fine) but I got a little anxious and cut them way too soon. Definitely wait until they get a chance to cool properly and they will set up nice so you can cut and serve easier.

Yellow Squash
This was a great way to cook squash. A huge change from the usual way it gets prepared (butter and brown sugar). I am not sure if the recipe needs a little tweaking to add more flavor or if our squash was just totally flavorless (hard to tell since I usually avoid squash). I did notice the soy sauce had gotten a stronger taste from the portion that was not served out of the pan. I may prep this first and let it sit on a warm burner so it can soak in a little more next time.
