About this Cook
My husband says that I'm a foodie but I don't think so. I mean I love food. I could write all day about how it looks, how it smells when its being prepared or cooked and the tasting of different flavors but a foodie? That's way too label-y for me.
My favorite things to cook
Dishes that come together quickly and easily but taste like I slaved over them for hours. This could be an appetizer, soup, main meal or dessert.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with family. Whether its my grandpa teaching me the chef's way of making pancakes or baking blackberry cobbler with my big Mama or going out for sushi with my sister, food and family go together like peanut butter and banana. I am happiest when those two are together as often as possible.
My cooking triumphs
Having people come over and consistently tell me how good everything is that I've prepared for them.
My cooking tragedies
Christmas gingerbread cookies of 1995. First time baking by myself and they were hard and inedible. Fish tacos with guacamole sauce. My mom actually said out loud "This is not good!" I blame Rachael Ray for that last one. one of her few recipe missteps.

Lentil and Sausage Soup
I enjoyed it and it made lots of leftovers. I doubled the sausage and vegetables and reduced the liquid as per the suggestions from the reviews. I will be adding this to my fall soup rotation.

Low Fat Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
This is an excellent salad dressing recipe. My husband really enjoyed it and its consistency is great for dipping. I followed the recipe as is and will be using it again but will add my tastefully simple bacon bacon and garlic garlic in place of the garlic and onion powders for my version of bacon ranch dressing. Yum!
