I live in Utah, have 3 kids and 6 grandkids. I enjoy knitting, crocheting, reading; I am an assistant branch manager at US Bank in Heber City, UT. Married 33 years to a wonderful man.
My favorite things to cook
I love tracking down east-coast style recipes, especially New York-style! they're hard to find in this area. I also love Italian cooking. Always looking for good, quick recipes for daily dinners.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Really eclectic; my mother's family is Italian, my father's family is German, so you'll find a wide range of cooking styles here!
My cooking triumphs
My triumphs usually involve finding appealing recipes and tweaking them to suit my family's tastes. I love recipes using fresh fruit, and one of my favorite things is home-grown tomatoes. Also....my youngest son who is 19 and currently headed to Army basic training in October, has developed a love for cooking and makes the best bruschetta I have ever tasted!
My cooking tragedies
First turkey....yes you guessed it, my father, who was carving the bird, found the innards cooked, plastic bag and all, in the neck cavity! Also, I was baking a pecan pie for thanksgiving, grabbed the baking powder instead of the cream of tartar, and the result looked like a science experiment gone wacko!!!

Almond-Raspberry Meringue Bars
Superb! Took my favorite ingredients, almond paste, raspberry jam and coconut, and turned them into a fantastic cookie. Chewy, decadent, and easy to make. One caution...make sure the egg whites have reached room temperature, or they won't whip up to stiff peaks. Teensy bit fussy to cut, but worth the work! altogether a total 5-star recipe, thanks, Dinah!

Carol's Baked Ziti Casserole
Very, very good! I found though it's easier to fold in the pasta, sauce and ricotta mixture together, then put into the pan, top with additional mozzarella at end. Overall, very good! Brava, Carol!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
Outstanding! Used a pork loin, make sure you use a good quality root beer. Used Famous Daves BBQ sauce, piled on bun with cole slaw on top. Family loves it!
