Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
I almost cringed when I read 'a good basic cookie' in the reviews. This cookie is so complex and delicious I found that rather offensive. I followed the recipe to a T (with the exception of replacing a small part of the chocolate and walnuts with sultana raisins) and they came out pretty much the best cookies I had ever had. They are sweet, with a hint of saltiness, chewy oatmealy goodness, complex walnut flavor and rich chocolate chunks. I did leave them in the oven for an extra 3 minutes (the temperature was running a little low though). I was tempted to put them in even longer because they weren't exactly crispy but I read in the reviews that they keep on baking even after being removed from the oven and my gosh, after they'd cooled down they were perfectly crunchy on the outside and wonderfully chewy on the inside. Love them!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
I'm not sure if I reviewed this recipe before but I just had to come and rave about it again! I've made this with very high quality chocolate and this brownie tasted like gooey, chocolatey HEAVEN. It has a fantastic consistency and it literally took me 5 minutes to whip up. This recipe is super quick and delicious. I love it!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
I very much wanted to love this recipe but there are a few things that bothered me: 1. I prebaked the crust for 15 minutes and then put it in for another 15 ith the toppings and it was too hard. Next time, I will try prebaking for only 8 minutes and see where that gets me. 2. The crust was not very flavorful, I might add some herbs to the dough next time, just a little bit. As these things can be weather/product related and the crust really was soft on the inside and crispy (albeit a little too) on the outside so I will try this again

Homemade Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
Halfway through this recipe I kinda forgot that I meant to halve it so I accidentally doubled the sugar and seasoning. The sauce is a tiny bit overpowering but still DELICIOUS. I can only imagine how tasty it'll be next time when I use the right amount of spices.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
I usually don't review recipes when I had to use a substitute (cider vinegar instead of rice vinegar and chili instead of red pepper flakes) but I just had to RAVE about this recipe. I have never had chicken this tender in my entire life. The acidic marinade made my chicken succulent and gave it a little zing. The sauce was delicious, sticky and sweet and I served it over fried rice. It was to die for! This recipe can definitely compete with chinese takeaway. I've been spending so much money on takeaway because I couldn't find a satisfying recipe to make meals like this at home. I will be making this again and again (and then some)

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
Maybe not the best brownies, but they were definitely tasty. The edges were slightly crispy and the middle was nice and chewy. They're a bit of a mix between fudgy and caky brownies. They did not turn out bitter at all, they were very chocolatey and sweet. These brownies are very easy to whip up and take no time whatsoever. I would make this if I were in a hurry but this will not be my standard brownie recipe

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
My dad, who is not a dessert man by any means, RAVED about this cobbler. The tastes are very well-balanced. It is not too sweet or sour and the top is light and slightly crunchy. I squeezed one large orange over my berries and added one tablespoon of cornstarch. I love that this dessert is so easy and quick and it leaves you with nearly no dishes.

Turkey in a Pot

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
I had some turkey leftovers in the freezer I really needed to get rid of and decided to make a stew with this recipe. I followed the recipe as written, but since I had chunks of meat it turned into a lovely, flavorful stew. Nex time I will use only half of the cinnamon though. It was a bit too strong for my taste.

These cookies are good, but not as gooey as I had hoped for. They are rather cakey, yet tasty.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
First of all, I will say that I made some changes to this recipe: I only added a smidge of salt and one tbs of sugar, I used all beef and I used fresh basil. I also topped the lasagne with some shredded emmental and 3 tbs of butter because I didn't like how the top was looking. That being said, this lasagna was absolutely delicious!

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I tried to make this and it was a little too sweet for my taste, so when I made it the second time I cut the sugar in half and it was simply superb. Nice and creamy with a crispy, wonderful streusel on top. At one point my friend stopped bothering scooping the yams on her plate and just started eating straight out of the dish.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
I've been trying recipes from this site for a while now and I've gotten some decent recipes, but none of them prompted me to actually register or review a recipe. Here I am now though. I have been trying to make chocolate chip cookies for years and have never gotten it quite right. They were often too flat, too bland, too crispy, they burned too easily, ... I basically made peace with the fact that cookies really just weren't my thing. Today, however, I felt like giving it another try and I came across this recipe. I nearly WEPT when I took the first batch out of the oven. They look absolutely gorgeous, they smell delicious and the texture is to die for! I can totally recommend this recipe to anyone!
