Lepp's Marathon of Love

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
ONLY 5 STARS?!!!! This is hands down my favorite recipe on AR! The serving DISH I chose for this was very flattering to the sparkle in everyone's eyes! (a family heirloom :) I would make this again in a heartbeat!

Apricot Cashew Clusters

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Made these as soon as I saw the recipe because I had everything on hand! I used 1/2 regular chips and 1/2 special dark. I also added a bit of sea salt just before the final stir because I love the whole sweet/salty thing going on. I am IN LOVE!!! I may have chopped my apricots a bit small, I would recommend keeping them similar in size to your cashews. Thank you for sharing this recipe, I will be making it again and again!

Cranberry Apple Stuffed Pork Loin

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
This was very good, but I did make my own stuffing as I just couldn't wrap my head around chicken stuffing with pork. I did include the cranberries, pecans and apple in the stuffing. I also did not trim my fat for cooking. I used a bit of applejuice to moisten my stuffing and glad I did, I think it would have dry. I served it with a sweet potatoe mash and green beans

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
I want to give this one star for not making enough!!! Fabulous! I gave up dipping the whole thing in butter and dipped the tops. When eating, I preferred the ones with just the tops dipped as they were more firm and not quite so messy to eat. I did double the nutmeg based on other reviews and have a grinder that I love using! I also made a second batch with a lemon twist (see my custom recipe if you're interested) I found mine were nicely done in 10-11 minutes and I got 20 nice sized ones. For the batch I pushed 24 out of they were a bit too small and crunchy, still nice tho

Chicken Breasts in Caper Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
Made this this weekend while visiting my son and daughter-in-law. The whole recipe just reminded me of something I had once in a nice restaurant that had mushrooms in it. I crip fried some mushrooms and then carried on with the recipe exactly as written, adding the mushrooms back in at the end with the capers. I served it on top of mashed potatoes with asparagus. Absolutely and completely fantastic!! My daughter-in-law has only dropped being a full vegetarian while breast-feeding and loved it so much, she has requested it for Christmas Eve!

Orange Dream PHILLY Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
Great recipe! ~ even for a fool!! I went brain dead making this and added 2 cups of boiling water to the jello instead of the clearly stated 2/3 cup. Obviously, pretty nervous waitng, but after 5 hours it was set well enough to get out of the pan, serve and eat! Not sure it would survive sitting out for a 1/3 hour or more tho :) One note I would like to make is I picked up the texture of the cottage cheese, which I didn't care for. Next time, I will be sure to use a fine curd. FYI ~ My brain dead version would make a beautiful dessert in a wineglass

Boiled Mustard Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
I made a single serving of these using 1 potato and 1 tbsp of mustard (as per AR conversion). I agree with other reviewers the flavour is a bit understated. I will try adding a bit more mustard next time. Fresh ground sea salt was very nice on these. I served it with ham and sauteed cabbage. Would be great with corned beef also!

Dilled Sole with Almonds

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
This was good, not sure how in love I am with the texture of the cornmeal on fish, but still a good recipe. I found the dill was heavier from one piece of fish to another, even tho I had stirred it up well. If I make it again I would sprinkle the dill on the up side after placing in the skillet to keep it even. I also found my butter was browning and next time would mix it with a bit of olive oil.

Apple Dumplings with Rich Cinnamon Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
I used the method for making the dumplings of enclosing the apple 1/4's in crescent rolls with this sauce. This will definately be my 'go to' sauce for dumplings in the future

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Aug 1/11 ~ Did this again but for the first time tried it on the grill. It was absolutely delicious. I put it on my gas grill using indirect heat and maintained the temperature between 250* and 275* glazing every 15 minutes. I had it on about 1 1/2 ~ 2 hours. This time I served it with Emily's Famous Hashbrowns (this site) and sauteed cabbage. We throughly enjoyed this tonight with scalloped potatoes and veggies. A real winner! I will be using some of the leftovers in baked beans and can hardly wait! Thank you for sharing, delicious!

Warm Green Bean and Potato Salad with Goat Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
I used fresh green beans, because they are lush right now and parboiled. Not a fan of goat cheese, so I used mild feta and the dish was great! Unfortunately, my camera seems to "ona break", mine looked much like the orignal picture!

Sticky Monkey Brains

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
We love these! I put a bit of cream cheese icing on them and had to lock them up after a taste by all, so there will be some for breakfast. I added a few raisins

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Made these a couple of weeks ago and really felt it was only fair to reserve judgement until I compared with some others. I found these way too sweet. I think the combination of the 1.5 cups sugar and a can of sweet soda is just overkill

Mexican Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
Based on the other comments and the amount of beef, I used 2 packs of taco seasoning and double the water. For one batch of cornbread I used a 9x9 pan and am freezing about 1/3 of the beef mix for a smaller batch of this. We liked it! This is my hubby's comment "It was a great pie. Not sure if it had anything to do with shepards, though. Mexican or otherwise." lol Thanks for the recipe, sure makes an easy, cozy dinner!

PJ's Sweet Potato Mash

We really liked these, but would use half the horseradish next time, the ratio to the honey was overpowering for us

Lemon Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
yum, Yum, YUM!, these are fantastic! The base is to die for and the filling lush! I added a tsp. of lemon extract, because I had it on hand, used the lemon zest and the lemon flavour was still light. I served it with french vanilla ice-cream which balanced it beautifully.

Easiest Banana-Fig-Oat Cookie, No sugar added. Vegan.

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
Just made these this morning ~ Thank you! I have been looking everywhere for a cookie recipe with no egg white and no gluten for my little grandaughter while I am here to visit. I had to make alot of improvs due to availability. No gluten free oats, so used 4 packs of instant gluten free apple/cinnamon oatmeal, the bananas (which I froze & defrosted to get soft enough fast) and because she is just a year and trying to get good stuff in her, I added 2 egg yolks and 3/4 cup finely diced frozen spinach. The judging panel woke from her nap and LOVES them! To keep them soft for her, I baked 12 minutes and cooled on countertop. Thank you! Thank you!!!

Molasses Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
Loved these! I have never heard of a molasses cookie, but OMG Yum! I chilled the dough for about an hour and they turned out plump & chewy. Cooled mine on a granite counter to keep them soft. 8 minutes baking was definately enough for my oven. A new family (and neighborhood favorite :)

I have made something very similar to this by guessing for years, but I am so happy to have a proper recipe and it was great with Quesadillas!
