In Memory of Danny Lepp

The tree has been planted with love by a childhood friend of Danny and the bench has been placed!  Baking Nana and I would like to sincerely thank Brenda Meyer of the Ashley, ND Parks Board for her incredible support and assistance in achieving our goal!

Cindy has asked for all names & addresses to thank each of you personally.  On behalf of all of us, I have told her that personal thank you notes are not necessary or expected.  Getting all the addresses would be a daunting task and I know Cindy is swimming in paperwork with finalizing Danny's affairs as it is.

Together, we achieved a wonderful memory for Cindy and Danny's family ~ thank you all!

If you click onto the photos TWICE, they will enlarge for a close-up view [especially good for the bottom photos, then you can see the plaque on the ground in front of the tree! It would be nice to see that beautiful tree again September/October with the Fall colors and to see how fast it is growing.

When people come upon the bench and tree, even if they did not know him, they will certainly understand he was loved by many. So glad you told Cindy not to worry about thank you's. But, a thank you to Baking Nana, Carrie & Lady Sparkle for your efforts. It allowed all of us to do something together that it would have been impossible to do alone.

Thanks to everyone involved - but most especially to Carrie and Baking Nana. And to RNG for hosting the party of love for the Lepp's and writing the recipe of love. And to Lady Sparkle for all the time and effort she is putting into getting the thread and recipe into book form. (I know how frustrated I can get by the computers I use - bless LS's heart!)

Carrie, Lady Sparkle, Baking Nana... you were excellent team leaders. You kept us all informed and I know answered me directly when questions arose. And RNG... who would have thought that "personal recipe" of yours would have brought so many of us together? This is such a fun and caring site. I complain about the weight I have gained since joining this community but it has been worth it for the friends I have gained!

A special thank you to Mike. I remember that you were helpful with all kinds of computer stuff to get the book going. Probably more then I am even aware of. And thanks to all out there who trusted enough in our cyber friends to do something and give of your time and money for someone we have never met in person but we all love (Cindy) and loved (Danny).

About Me
I am currently working as a Social Worker at a men's Emergency Shelter. Prior to this, we spent 15 years living overseas in support of my husband's career. We have lived in Pakistan, Tokyo Japan and Shanghai China as well as a short stay in the USA. We have 5 grown children and 5 beautiful, fun grandchildren.
My favorite things to cook
I guess I like to cook main dishes the most and play with things to try to make them better. Problem is, when I get something really great, I can never remember the next time what I had done! I go on baking kicks until we all gain so much weight, I have to stop!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm a bit of control freak, so I like to host rather than be hosted. Often to my detrement, as I get exhausted with pretty bad arthritis. Many of our funniest family stories might include a tale of "Mom was so tired by that point, she burst into tears"! One of those times was with our family tradition of shrimp cocktail as an appetizer to Christmas dinner ~ in error I had bought the super hot seafood sauce and my five little kids couldn't even eat it. Hubby rescued the day, by rinsing their shrimp and making some mild seafood sauce with ketchup and horseradish.
My cooking triumphs
An emergency camping meal. We got to the campsite to find a major storm starting and had to cook fast & furious to get warmed up. As we then planned on leaving early in the morning, I threw sausage, pork, beef and all kinds of veggies into a pot. My husband recently brought that up when we were discussing the show "The best thing I ever ate" Of course, I have never been able to duplicate it :)
My cooking tragedies
November 7/10 Made a leg of lamb roast for dinner. Used some different seasonings in the rub this time, so I thought that was the funny smell. My roast potatoes came out gorgeous, peas & carrots perfect and the grvy a beautiful rich color. We sit down as the minute I take a bite, I know ~ the meat is bad. Dh and Ds carried on for a few minutes until they got nervous too. I spat my first bite out, but had some of the gravy, so I could get a bit sick. But dh and ds are sitting here looking at each other, wondering who will puke first. Thank goodness I just found out where the hospital is in our new hometown! On the bright side, at least didn't have company :)
