Just had a question about affording a tree, bench and possibly a garden stone. My reply: Just saw your question. I sure hope so! I am shopping around on benches carefully. The park board is only charging us about $80 for the tree we think for a 6' to 8'. The benches are pricey, I was surprised! Garden stones are widely varied but quite affordable.

I just made my contribution via Paypal. For your records, I am russellsinar@aol.com. It should show as James Russell (hubby). Thank you again Carrie and Baking Nana.

** Puck, I saw your comment from last night on the Buzz. If you have an old account, you can request password help and it will let you reset it. You then have the option of deleting old banking info, etc. the only reason I had so much trouble is because it is apparently not allowed to change currency on the same account. My old one was from when we did our banking in the States. You can still donate to other currencies, you just can't pay from multiple currencies

Carrie
Apr. 13, 2011 7:12 am
Does that make any sense? LOL

Apr. 13, 2011 7:25 am
Thank you Carrie & Baking Nana for doing this. It is very kind and appreciated by all of us that didn't know how to contribute. I know this memorial will be deeply loved by Cindy and her family.

Apr. 13, 2011 7:37 am
Thank you mickdee! I know that Cindy will be deeply touched.

Apr. 13, 2011 7:42 am
Having a hard time with the site, I entered my CC info twice and didn't it said I had made some errors... ?? I'll wait a day or two and see if it goes through. Will you let me know if it worked?

Apr. 13, 2011 7:50 am
tanya - I am new to PayPal - but some people are leaving messages etc.. with their donations. Not sure why some see this feature and others don't.

Apr. 13, 2011 7:53 am
Tanya - yours went through. Thank you.

I big heartfelt thank you to you ladies..Carrie and Nana. Just donated through my work e-mail since my home one would not work.

Apr. 13, 2011 10:10 am
I donated with love from So. Calif. Thanks for doing this for Cindy and letting us have a way to show her how much we love her.

Apr. 13, 2011 10:25 am
I just put in my donation (jmelissa2000@aol.com). This was so easy and such a great way to pay a lasting tribute to someone special. I'm sure each and every one of us knows how difficult it is to lose someone. My heart goes out to Cindy and her family. Thanks Carrie and Baking Nana for putting this together!

I have had no word yet from the company looking after the webcast, I have just emailed the help desk asking if there is an update as I notice the video still has audio issues.

Apr. 13, 2011 12:33 pm
Just completed my donation. As an FYI - When the screen pops up saying - "You have an existing Paypal Acct - please log in using your existing Paypal acct" - There is an option to select that says - "continue donating without logging in". I was able to do that and did not have to use (ie remember) my existing paypal account. I was able to pay with credit card. Hope this is helpful (and not confusing)for future donators! Thanks for providing this avenue for me to show my support to Cindy and her family Carrie and B'Nana!

I have just had a reply from the support centre for the webcast memorial. As follows: >>>> "Thank you for contacting Event by Wire. We have contacted the funeral home regarding this recording. unfortunately it will be a few days before the technical difficulty will be resolved. Please check back at a later date for the updated recording online.

Apr. 13, 2011 1:14 pm
Mi Being Mi - Thanks so much for that information. I am going to add that to the blog! :) You guys, ROCK!

Apr. 13, 2011 2:30 pm
Baking Nana - If you see this, I was able to donate this morning and left a response on Carrie's post. Since Hubs has a paypal account, it showed a confirmation, so I think we got it right. The email thing probably won't work for us, because Hubs tells me after the fact that paypal has our old email address which was jscowden@yahoo.com. Grrrrr!! My donation will probably show up with his name, Jim Scowden. Our new email is scowdenj@yahoo.com if that helps.

Thank you for all your hard work Carrie and BN! I just donated, didn't have any problems at all...I only wish I could give more! I know I had a PayPal account years and years ago, but it didn't cause me any troubles that I saw. Hope it went through okay :)

Apr. 13, 2011 4:03 pm
you two really are the best, carrie and baking nana. i'm sure cindy really appreciates all you have done for her. i kind of hoped for some kind of guideline for how much to donate, i hope what i donated was ok! i think i mentioned in a thread on the recipe buzz, but my pay pal's under the name rachel durso.

Apr. 13, 2011 4:27 pm
cheepchick...that was quick for a cheepchick. Thanks kid!

Apr. 13, 2011 4:30 pm
chikalin, I have talked to both BN and Carrie via email and they are leaving it up to everyone what they feel is appropriate. After all, it is hard times for so many these days. From what I heard last, the account is clipping along with donations. Too cool.

Apr. 13, 2011 4:44 pm
I feel HORRIBLE! I had no CLUE this was even going on. I havent been on much this year. Thanks for posting this!

Alex
Apr. 13, 2011 5:25 pm
Carrie & Baking Nana... PayPal didn't give me anywhere to write a message (or I'm totally blind), but if it tells you the name of everyone who donated, I'm Alexandra Hotham :)

Carrie
Apr. 13, 2011 5:43 pm
Thank you all so much! We are indeed clipping along. Remember it is a gift from the heart and is certainly not intended to throw a curveball into your budget, I know Cindy would not want that!

Carrie
Apr. 13, 2011 5:44 pm
Alex, I don't think Baking Nana has been able to figure out why some are seeing the message option and some aren't. At the end of the fundraising, we will be very sure to match up names for the card that will be sent to Cindy.

Apr. 13, 2011 6:47 pm

Apr. 13, 2011 7:44 pm
Wow! I am in AWE. You guys are awesome. I can hardly keep up with you! All this AR love! Wow - Cindy is going to be amazed! Blessings!

Apr. 13, 2011 7:55 pm
Thank You Carrie for your kindness in Cindy's time of need. :):) What a Wonderful tribute. Bless you! I sent $$ to Danny's hospital. I hope this helps.

Apr. 13, 2011 8:12 pm
Bless you Patty - thanks for stopping in. I am touched, amazed and in absolute awe of the love and friendship here on the buzz. Wow - I have tears in my eyes - to think that a bunch of online "friends" all pull together for a friend in need. It is touching beyond words. ((((hugs))))

Apr. 13, 2011 8:38 pm
Everyone who has made a donation should have received a personal "Thank You" from me. If you have not received that email PLEASE let me know. Just send me an email and I will check into it. Blessings!

Apr. 13, 2011 11:57 pm
I had sent money to Lady Sparkle to help with the costs for the book, so I just made a small token donation. This is a really nice show of support for Cindy. Thanks, Chris

Apr. 14, 2011 12:32 am
Thank you so much again, Carrie and Ba'Nana, for doing this!

Apr. 14, 2011 6:43 am
We have received some more donations as of this morning. We will be updating the list and total later in the day. Thank you to all of you!

Apr. 14, 2011 7:39 am
Just sent my donation. I wanted to say there is a spot to leave a note and/or your AR screen name on the PayPal page. It is in blue on the left-hand side and says something like "Note to Seller". God bless you Carrie and Penny for taking care of this for us. "There but for the grace of God..."

Apr. 14, 2011 8:53 am
Thank you so much SweetBasil. I will add those instructions to my blog. :)

Apr. 14, 2011 9:09 am
Wow, Thanks BNana and Carrie for setting this up and all the work you have put into this! And Thanks to Ladysparkle too for all you are doing on the "Recipe" book! If there is extra funds, will they be put towards the costs of the book Ladysparkle is getting done?? Or is there someway we can donate towards offsetting the costs? Thanks again!!

Apr. 14, 2011 9:25 am
Thanks so much Lobster! LS has the cost of the book pretty much covered through donations. The $$$ raised here will be used to pay for the memorial bench and tree and the remainder will be sent directly to Cindy.

***** If anyone has made a donation book only, please make sure I get your name for the card being sent to Cindy. I will be doing a handmade card and signing all the names. I will try to get a decent picture of it when it is done:)

Apr. 14, 2011 9:57 am
great job ladies, the memorial thread also had a donation link

Apr. 14, 2011 10:00 am
How long will the donations be accepted? I'm at work, and can't access the page from here.

Apr. 14, 2011 10:19 am
Pam - we are going to continue to collect until at least May 1st. Although we can certainly go longer if need be.

Apr. 14, 2011 10:53 am
I goofed up PayPal and didn't realize I could leave a note, and also didn't think about my name being recognized until it was too late. It will be under smith6259@embarqmail.com, and will be under husband's name of Douglas Smith. Sorry for the trouble! Marcella

Apr. 14, 2011 11:27 am
No trouble at all Marcella! I got it! Thanks!

Apr. 14, 2011 11:45 am
wow, $808 is amazing! hopefully there's enough to cover the bench already and have some go to cindy?

Apr. 14, 2011 11:57 am
That is the goal chikalin. :)

Apr. 14, 2011 12:24 pm
Way to go ladies & gentlemen! (Whispers ~ there seems to be a problem with formatting above and some names are appearing on the same line as another in your list above, which may inadvertently get some left off the card)

Apr. 14, 2011 12:47 pm
Hi Trishie. I let Carrie know about that. We will be updating the list & total this afternoon. I am sure she will pick it up then. :)

Apr. 14, 2011 1:13 pm
I have had a thought, I know a few people went to a lot of trouble to put the "faces" on the recipes for the book and they may not be in a position to donate actual $$'s yet they did spend money (ingredients), gave their time and added their love into those recipes and photographs. Perhaps their names could also be added to the card??

Apr. 14, 2011 1:45 pm
Carrie and I had a similar idea last night. (always scheming) But I absolutely agree that EVERYONE who has been involved will be included.

Apr. 14, 2011 2:19 pm
Absolutely no biggie, but Scotdog only has one t, thanks!

Apr. 14, 2011 2:29 pm
Thanks Scotdog! We will get that corrected! :) Thank you so much.

Apr. 14, 2011 3:30 pm
Thanks BN and Carrie for getting this setup and everyone who participated with the recipes and the book(special thanks to Lady Sparkle!). I am still amazed.

Apr. 14, 2011 5:40 pm
And Shanon has 1 "n" ~ you havenn't posted yet but everyone puts in 2. My mom cursed me for life with that! :0) Thanks again for doing this! ♥

Carrie
Apr. 14, 2011 5:41 pm
I have had A day! lol Everytime I edit the blog it throws the whole format out. I honestly don't have it in me tonight, but will go at it all carefully tomorrow. I WILL win against the AR blog gremlin!

Apr. 14, 2011 5:44 pm
Just sent in my donation!!! I know every bit helps! This is such a great thing everyone's doing!

Apr. 14, 2011 6:12 pm
Thanks so much Carrie! I know it's been a long day. I think the formatting problem maybe my fault for using copy and paste. As for Shanon's name - well - I must not have c/p'ed that! :/ Sorry my fault.

Apr. 14, 2011 6:13 pm
mommyluvs2cook - got it - Thanks!

Apr. 14, 2011 6:55 pm
Awesome job people!

Apr. 14, 2011 7:10 pm
Do it at your own pace, Carrie! No rush. You have a lot on your plate right now, to say the least!

Apr. 14, 2011 7:39 pm
Just sent mine - - thanks Carrie & Baking Nana for your labor of love.

Apr. 14, 2011 8:43 pm
Thanks so much! We were hoping to get everyone an update tonight - but well - life gets in the way. (Blessings to you Carrie) We will update in the mornings....all I have to say is AR Buzzers ROCK!

Apr. 14, 2011 9:44 pm
This is the first thing I have done at AR. MY e-mail is njboise@ymail.com. I have received so much from the blogs and inspiration from Cindy's journey that I had to try to donate. Thank you both for providing us a way to forward love.

The bench and the tree are such a nice memorial for Dan. Penny & Carrie, it was great of you to put it together.

Carrie
Apr. 15, 2011 6:16 am
Well Shoot! The formatting "fix" sure didn't work!

Carrie
Apr. 15, 2011 6:48 am
I am going to leave the formatting as is now, just can't get it to do what I want, but I've managed to correct any errors in names/information which is most important :)

Apr. 15, 2011 6:52 am
I just done it - what a super idea. My email ends with 'bluewin.ch' so you'll have a fair guess as to who I am! LOL

Apr. 15, 2011 6:54 am
Looks great Carrie! Thanks for fooling with it. Drives you nuts, huh? :)

Apr. 15, 2011 6:56 am
Thank so much Phil! I am in awe of all the great AR buzzers who have stepped up to support Cindy and this memorial for Danny. You guys ROCK!

Carrie
Apr. 15, 2011 7:07 am
It does, the problem is in the preview it looks like I set it up, but then you hit publish and it changes! Enough to make me looney! (like I needed help with that!)

Carrie
Apr. 15, 2011 7:08 am
I wonder if AR would make an exeption and let us stay in top blogs until May 1st?

Apr. 15, 2011 7:09 am
Wouldn't hurt to ask! :)

Apr. 15, 2011 7:32 am
I am "Jerri" on the list - sorry I thought my screen name would come through on my PayPal note. That total is amazing!!

Apr. 15, 2011 8:02 am
SweetBasil - sorry I missed that - we will get it fixed.

Carrie
Apr. 15, 2011 8:17 am
Done :)

Apr. 15, 2011 8:37 am
Carrie - on the money total line try holding down shift and hitting the enter key. This helps on some of my website editing.

Carrie and Baking Nana, you two are awesome!

Carrie And Baking Nana- if this falls off the "Most Popular Blogs" list, I suggest you copy and paste it then re-post it. When it falls off, I will point to it in my post, also. I may re- post my momentum post in a couple of days, anyway.

Carrie, thank you so much for posting. Is there still time to post photos to recipes for the book? I just donated but I'm confused about how to make donations for the book. I had planned to submit a pic for 2 recipes, but of course life got in the way unfortunately. Is there a deadline?

Apr. 15, 2011 4:27 pm
CLC - are there still recipes that need pics for the book? I would say go for it. LS is working on the book. Her goal is to be done my May 1.

Carrie - your mistake was that the special character has to finish with a semi-colon - NOT a colon. That was the only mistake! And just a little question, er my name hasn't yet appeared in the list above!

Apr. 16, 2011 8:34 am
er....correction, yes it does - I was looking for additions to come at the bottom - what a twit!

My heartfelt prayers continue to go out to the Lepp family. I am amazed by the outpouring of compassion from this website alone. I always knew this was a great bunch of people, but just reading through all the posts confirms it. I know Cindy must feel all the love coming her way. Carrie, you are a warrior friend to take all this on and see it through. Blessings to you as well.

Good morning BN! I did get your email, just had such a busy weekend and haven't turned on the computer yet (on my Nook now). Great to see Carrie's blog still at #1! AR keeps rocking on!

I see there are some formatting issues above, but I love it- I can't imagine a better place for my last name to go than behind Mike Harvey's lol! How do you feel about being Mike Harvey Fields? Teehee! Carrie and BN, I know these minor kinks will be worked out, and you ladies have done so much...I hope you know I am only funning with you! This is truly an amazing thing, and one could not be in better company than with the wonderful people here :)

Apr. 18, 2011 4:49 am
Thank you to those who put this all together. It's wonderful. You did a great job!

Carrie
Apr. 18, 2011 7:12 am
LOL, I never noticed that! I have been meaning to ask you actually if you want "Rachel Fields" on the card or "Puck"? Let me know and I will fix it all at once :)

Apr. 18, 2011 8:30 am
I guess, if it's gonna be fixed, my association with a pretty young woman will be ended. Whether you knew it or not, Puck, it was fun!

Apr. 18, 2011 11:05 am
LOL - Mike! I love your sense of humor.

Apr. 18, 2011 12:56 pm
Haha! I agree Mike- it was fun indeed :) It was very progressive of you to take my last name- not too many men do that lol! Carrie, I have thought about that too. Cindy knows my real name, so that is not an issue, but it is an AR "family" project, and I am Puck here...I just don't know. Would it be possible to just add (Puck) after my name? I suppose it doesn't really matter either way- and I certainly don't want to be a bother!!!

Apr. 18, 2011 1:11 pm
If you just use Puck it will save a lot of typing letters.

Apr. 18, 2011 1:13 pm
Just don't hyphenate the names. It'a a man thing.

CindyLepp Apr. 18, 2011 2:09 pm Dear Carrie, WOWEE! Holey cow, you guys! I am flabberghasted as you may imagine! I flew home from North Dakota yesterday and I'm pretty pooped but everything went well (except the 8 inches of snow that I'm sure Danny had a hand in!) so that we couldn't do the funeral procession because the roads were flooded then frozen and snowy...too dangerous. But I'm okay with that...I plant to go back in the summer to see his resting place when its better weather. He's in heaven now, at peace, no pain, and yes, probably fishing! I will do a proper thank-you ASAP but the words need to come to me...I need some time alone to think. I love you all...you have gotten me thru the roughest days of my life, kept me on even keel, kept me giggling! Love, Cindy.....and Marley (Arf! Arf!)

Cindy, I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see you resurface. I imagine the last 10 days + the 10 days before that have been the hardest in your life. I know you will come out strong! Our love for you has brought this community together is such a wonderful way and that is your gift to all of us. I am so happy you see Danny resting comfy and warm, maybe having a chin wag with his dad. I hope that when you do return to ND, you will have a little time to go sit on Danny's bench in the shade of that tree and spend a little time with Danny watching the kids play in the park and just being together. Much love to you! xoxox

I was so happy to see her pop in earlier this afternoon!

I just sent my donation via paypal. (dtm829@comcast.net) Thank you so much for putting this all together. I have been off All Recipes for a couple of months because my father was diagnosed with lung cancer in February. We received a miracle and they caught it early enough to be able to remove it. When I returned to AR the other day I went on the buzz and I saw Cindy and Danny's story and my heart just broke. I read through the entire story on the Caring Bridge. Cindy truly seems like a remarkable woman, as are all of you. Thank you again for this beautiful act of kindness.

About Me
I am currently working as a Social Worker at a men's Emergency Shelter. Prior to this, we spent 15 years living overseas in support of my husband's career. We have lived in Pakistan, Tokyo Japan and Shanghai China as well as a short stay in the USA. We have 5 grown children and 5 beautiful, fun grandchildren.
My favorite things to cook
I guess I like to cook main dishes the most and play with things to try to make them better. Problem is, when I get something really great, I can never remember the next time what I had done! I go on baking kicks until we all gain so much weight, I have to stop!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm a bit of control freak, so I like to host rather than be hosted. Often to my detrement, as I get exhausted with pretty bad arthritis. Many of our funniest family stories might include a tale of "Mom was so tired by that point, she burst into tears"! One of those times was with our family tradition of shrimp cocktail as an appetizer to Christmas dinner ~ in error I had bought the super hot seafood sauce and my five little kids couldn't even eat it. Hubby rescued the day, by rinsing their shrimp and making some mild seafood sauce with ketchup and horseradish.
My cooking triumphs
An emergency camping meal. We got to the campsite to find a major storm starting and had to cook fast & furious to get warmed up. As we then planned on leaving early in the morning, I threw sausage, pork, beef and all kinds of veggies into a pot. My husband recently brought that up when we were discussing the show "The best thing I ever ate" Of course, I have never been able to duplicate it :)
My cooking tragedies
November 7/10 Made a leg of lamb roast for dinner. Used some different seasonings in the rub this time, so I thought that was the funny smell. My roast potatoes came out gorgeous, peas & carrots perfect and the grvy a beautiful rich color. We sit down as the minute I take a bite, I know ~ the meat is bad. Dh and Ds carried on for a few minutes until they got nervous too. I spat my first bite out, but had some of the gravy, so I could get a bit sick. But dh and ds are sitting here looking at each other, wondering who will puke first. Thank goodness I just found out where the hospital is in our new hometown! On the bright side, at least didn't have company :)
