Classic Goulash

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
Sorry, did not like the taste, at all. Added sugar and parsley, which at lest made it edible. Think it's too much soy.

Ground Beef Stroganoff

I never would have thought to combine these ingredients, but the end result was good.

London Broil II

A very tasty, inexpensive and quick way to tenderize beef. The first time using this recipe, I only could marinade for 2 1/2 hours - not enough time for the full effect, but still flavorful.

Whole Wheat Wraps

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
This was my first time making unleavened bread, and it was simple and delicious. I'm going to give this 5 stars even though I had to alter my process - as a newbie, I may have measured the flour wrong. I used an additional cup of water and about 1 1/2 cups of white flour for coating the rolling pin, dough, and surface. The waxed paper was a disaster for me. Also, dividing into 16 pieces made the wraps too small, okay, I admit, we're big eaters! Instead, I divided into 8 pieces. Cooking was fast and easy, even in a medium-sized skillet. I had read other recipes before choosing this one, and they mentioned adding seasonings. I added parsley, oregano, basil, and garlic powder to taste. I actually look forward to making these again and trying various herbs. They have become the sandwich staple in my family. Bye bye, yeast!

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
Delicious, simple, fairly quick, and the aroma reminds me of stuffing. I did not have red wine on hand, so I substituted a couple tablespoons cider vinegar and 1 tbsp of brown sugar. It definitely has a rich, full taste. Ceasar croutons work great if you run out of bread.

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
Next time, I would only make 1/2 the recipe as this is a lot of topping. It was delicious over a yellow poke cake with cherry and strawberry gelatin. I froze the leftovers and they remained firm and tasty after defrosting.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
I do not eat rice pudding, but my father devoured the whole thing in less than a day! He does add a dash of cinnamon and whipped cream. Super easy to make and a great way to use leftover rice or those Chinese take-out side dishes.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
Nothing but raves from family members when they tried this cake, even people who profess they do not eat "carrot cake", loved it. Simple to make, very moist and sweet.

Fudge

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
Tasteless, grainy and it would not set. Tried reboiling, but it did not work the second time either. I would not even use this as a topping for ice cream as it is bland.

Fast, easy and delicious with an unexpected sweetness. I do add water to evenly distribute the seasonings and then cook uncovered to reduce.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2013
I used regular white bread and began by following the directions exactly. The bread became so saturated that it fell apart in the batter. Scooped up the remains and patted them together on the griddle and turned the heat way down - about 2 on an electric stove. The batter only lasted for five slices, not the twelve in the recipe. The bread which fell apart eventually toasted well enough to eat, did not notice any flavor. Prepared the rest of the slices by increasing the amount of egg and vanilla. This recipe didn't work for me, but maybe with thick Texas toast it would.

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
Very moist and dense scratch cake. The icing/frosting is the key to how well you'll enjoy the texture. Strawberries, or any fruit, glaze, or a milk chocolate creamy frosting are superb! Easy and thorough directions.

I do not eat mushrooms myself, but the people I made this for raved about the taste. Super easy to make and all the ingredients were on hand.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
Fabulous, fast, and delicious. My family was supposed to eat this as a sidedish, but enjoyed it as the main course! We don't use Miracle Whip, preferring Helmann's, but no other changes were made to the recipe.
