About this Cook
My mother turned over the reins to the kitchen to me 43 years ago now. I have always had an artistic streak. I wanted to combine the craft of homemaking with my desire to be an artist. Food is a wonderful medium & the "color" combinations are endless. I was blessed with the gift of being able to taste in my head. A requirement when I have had to hire cooks in my employ. I have recently developed a plethora of food allergies, so I have to more than ever rely on my taste memory. I will not stop. I believe in learning to adapt,adopt & improve It is my desire to share my knowledge with the next generation.Freely. I also believe we can open the eyes & minds of others through their mouths.

I am a member of the family of man I respect and embrace all cooking traditions as my own.We can learn so very much about each other by sharing our culinary traditions.
My cooking triumphs
Realizing that while, cooking involves a lot of math and science.It is above all personal,an expression of who and what I am.The first rule in my kitchen is that a recipe is only a suggestion. They can and should be able to be adapted to ones personal preferences,and level of ability. Enjoy yourself,relax & share. We take nothing to the grave with us.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
really liked this, though ended up adapting the recipe to suite what I had on hand. I use alot of " plain" recipes as a starting off place. The proportions here were right on. My changes were... I added Two Tbls lemon juice. 1/4 c. yellow cornmeal. and 1 cup blueberries. Another change I made was i smashed my bananas with a fork. After my additions i gave it another star!!
