Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
How do you know when a recipe is foolproof?
Answer: When I make it, and it tastes good.
THAT. My friends. Is a divine sign and wonder... and thus, 5 stars! I even made the lattice crust and it was so easy, and so fun! Needless to say, I am proud of myself, but more so, thankful for this recipe. This pie tastes great. I followed a few suggestions and added a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice (what I had on hand; although I would recommend even more spice) and sprinkled the top of the pie with sugar before putting it in the oven. This pie came out GREAT. Crispy crust and everything! My husband is anti-fruit-for-dessert because he is a chocolate lover, but he said that he actually really loved this pie. I used some almost-dying red apples and would probably try again with granny smith as recommended - something with more flavor - but it was still delicious. And pretty.
So there you go Grandma Ople. My stomach is paying homage to your mad apple skills.
