Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
This was fantastic! My hubby had 3 helpings. I cooked 2 frozen Costco chicken breast in my crock pot with 5 cups water, 3 chicken bullions and 3 whole cloves of garlic. While it was cooking i steamed the potatoes and carrots and put in fridge. I think cooling the potatoes helped keep them from breaking up when it was all mixed with the sauce. The sauce is amazing. I actually used the broth from the crockpot- I only used 2 cups of broth and then one cup of water- it is important to taste here to judge how salty you like it. I actually cut the salt down to 1/2 tsp since the broth was salty enough. I used pilsbery pie crust and precooked it for 5 minutes on 400 with a wash of egg. I also put an egg wash on the top crust which gave it a beautiful shiney finish.

Apple-Cranberry Crisp

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
Had to cut down on the aomunt of cinammon to 1 tsp. I added all 3 tsp of cinnammon and it seemed overpowering so I actually washed it off the apples and only added 1 tsp instead. It was yummy served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Sue's Baba Ghanoush

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2007
I made this exactly as stated. The garlic was overwhelming. I think next time I would try only 1/2 of what is called for. I could not get around the garlic taste (and I love garlic) so sadly I had to toss it. I gave it a 3 star beccause I think if adjusted right it may be good. I am a big fan of hummus and white bean dip and the concept here is the same.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
these were p[erfect. I have made a few differet recipies for scones and this is my new favorite. We had just picked fresh blueberries so I used 3/4 cup of those in place of the rasins. I did not freeze them before hand like someone else mentioned. I just added them to the end. They did not turn the socnes blue at all- my 3 and 5 yr old ate 2 each right out of the oven.

Classic Tiramisu

ended up tossing this- was too custardy and sweet and did not have the texture I was hoping for. I thought they had a layer of melted chocolate in there somewhere.

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2007
OK- this was ridiculously easy - BUT it was a bit too salty for us. This might have been because I used boullion instead of broth. I will make this again but use less boullion or buy the broth. My husband commented that it had a bit too much egg it in then he finds when we eat out so next time i might reduce the egg by one.

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2007
I followed the recipie exactly. The sauce smelled so good while it was cooking. The pork chops were tender and fell apart- but they seemed kind of bland and dry. I had to keep loading on the sauce so I could eat it. Might be better with chicken but will not make with chops again.

Spinach and Rice (Spanakorizo)

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
Oh wow! I loved this- my husband is not a fan of spinach so he did not care for it much. I followed others users advice and did 3/4 cup rice and 3 cups of liquid. After a few minutes alot of the water seemed to absorb so I covered it since that is normally how I cook basmatiti rice and it just seemed like the right thing to do. It came out awesome and I will be making it again!

Chicken Dilly

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
I give this recipe a 4 because after cooking it 30 minutes with foil I opened the oven to remove foil and it looked very dry. I then mixed up one cup of water and a bullion cube and poured it on top. This helped moisten the turmeric that was on top as well as make a sauce. I then cooked uncovered for 15 more minutes and found it to be pretty good. The chicken broth flavored nicely with the spices and made a good topping for the rice. I will make again. My 2 and 4 year old did eat it all up.

Double Chocolate Cookies by EAGLE BRAND®

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
Very good- more like a cake like cookie but perfect for a chocolate lover. I did not have enough white chocolate so I added chocolate chips to make a full cup. I think next time I will grease the pan- it called for ungreased but was a little hard to remove from the pan and I have new non stick pans.

Brownie Mix in a Jar II

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2006
I normally like to follow a recipie exactly like it reads so that I can make my own judgements and then change as needed. I figure I need to give it a fair shot. I have been making my own brownies from scratch for years- and every one loves them- but it is not one you can put in a jar. I did try this so I could give as gifts. I found that I do agree with other readers- too much sugar. I found it a bit to cake like and agree that 3 eggs would be better and make it more fudgier. I am not giving up I will try again with the suggested reviews.

Cookie in a Jar

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2006
very good- I am making them as gifts this year. I did not have rice cripies on hand so I used chocolate crispies- I did layer the ingrediants differently then suggested. I have read that white sugar should be at the bottom otherwise it seeps down throught the layers and will ruin the layer look. I did white sugar, flour, baking soda and baking powder, oatmeal, brown sugar, cholocate chips, white chips and crispies.
