Bread Pudding II

Yummy- used stale bread and cut off crusts. Also used 1/2 white sugar and 1/4 brown sugar. Used 1 cup 1% milk and the 1 cup half and half.

I do not even like mushrooms but I loved this soup. I made it exactly like written. But i did add one garlic since we are garlic lovers. I did use all portabello. I chopped small pieces. made enough for 4 bowls as a start to dinner

Potato Latkes I

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Roasted Swiss Chard with Feta

We got 2 giant leaves from a kids event at a local farm today. Not having the heart to toss them and wondering what they would taste like I deced to try this dish. 2 large leaves was enough of a side for a family of 4. My 7 and 9 yr old LOVED it. I was so excited they liked another green veggies. WIll be making this again for sure. Followed exactly.

Ratatouille Bake

My 7 and 9 year old loved this. Was a great way to use up veggies from the garden. One recommendation is that is does need more sauce. Since I needed to roast alot of veggies for another dish I actually sprayed them with Olive Oil and pan roasted them in the oven at 400 for about 20 minutes. I had the garlic on there as well and when it came out of the oven I used a garlic press to squeeze the garlic on the roasted veggies. I did use the one can of diced tomatoes but it did not look like it was going to be saucey enough so then I ended up mixing in a about 1 1/2 cups of tomato basil pasta sauce into the veggies before pouring it on over pasta. Everyone then asked for more sauce on the side. All in all it was a keeper!

Greek Pasta Salad I

I was excited to try the recipie based on the high reviews. I was a bit dissappointed. I made as indicated but cut down on the red wine vinegar to 1/4 cup based on other reviews and I figured I could add as needed to taste. Overall it made way too much dressing and the pasta seems to be swimming in oil and still has too strong of a vinegar taste. Next time I may make in a salad dressing bottle and add as needed. We prefer to taste more of the pasta and veggies not the dressing. The combination of veggies works great- the dressing a bit too much.

Never Fail Chocolate Chip Cookies

The cookie was good. The batter was thick , however mine did spread out a bit thinner then I would of liked- I tried cooking one batch on parchment paper to see if that made a different and it did only slightly. I think maybe the amount of butter caused them to really expand when cooking.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

used 4 cups flour as other recommended. Came put just like auntie annes minus the butter the dip it in before serving. I do prefer another recipie I make but this was perfect for a visitor that had alot of allergies.

Mushroom Oven Omelet

I am not a mushroom eater but have learned that this is one of the few veggies that my 8 year old will eat. She loved this one. We made it as a light dinner. Easy and fast to make. Did exactly as the recipie calls for. Althought I do not eat mushroom I did taste it and it was good- if you are a mushroom lover this is a must try. I did use premade bacon that I get at Costco since i hate cooking bacon. That actually made the prep work alot easier.

Swanson® Pan-Seared Steaks with Mushroom Gravy

easy and delicious. Made an oven roasted round of beef and mashed potatoes. Topped both with the gravey and kids gobbled it up. They even agreed to eat their green beans since it was so good.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

I tried this recipie tonight in preparation for a new recipie for our New Years party. Everyone ate it but no one was nuts about it. I think it was a bit bland as compared to the tomatoe sauce lasagnas. I did follow the recipie exactly. In order for me to make a recipie again I like it to be to something I can not wait to have again- I was dissapointed I did not like this as much as I thought I would. It had such high reviews.

Chicken with Herb Sauce

We eat alot of chicken and I am always looking for another favorite recipie. We try a new recipie about once per week. This was just OK- the comment from the family was- "not our favorite" The chicken lacked flavor- but the sauce was good. I did add some corn starch to thicken up sauce and use over both the chicken and buttered noodles. Most likely will not make this again.

Chocolate Cream Pudding

I will never by the boxed kind again. This was amazing- just the right fix for someone who wants a yummy chocolate dessert when a cookie will not stop the chocolate craving. Tastes like the batter for a fudge cake- I read the reviews and used the ingredients exactly However I did them in a different order- I melted the chocolate with the butter in a sauce pan and then slowly alternated and added the sugar mixture and 1 1/2 cups of milk. I had reserved 1/2 milk and had mixed that with the eggs yolks and then I slowly added that in while whisking. It thicken up and came out creamy with not lumps or gritty texture.

Greek Pizza with Spinach, Feta and Olives

this was a gourmet pizza- very good- I am thinking of having a gourmet pizza night for our friends and will add this one as the veggie one for those who do not eat meat. Both my 5 and 7 year old loved it.

Curried Turkey

This was a very quick dish to make and a great way to use up left over Turkey. I used massaman curry paste in place of the curry powder and added less then what it called for and then added more to adjust for our taste. My 6 year old had 2 helpings! Will make this again using chicken.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies II

This was excellent- they came out perfect. I did do the one thing that others suggested and that was filling the hole with frosting before topping it with the cherry. I did not drizzle additional frosting on top when it came out because the frosting never got very hard and I would not have been able to stack them in the cookie tin. They were excellent and will make for my next cookie exchange.
