Blueberry Cornmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
These were great. I like the cornmeal/flour mix. I will make again.

Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
I'm giving this 5 stars but I didn't even remotely follow the recipe. I did follow someone's suggestion of pouring sweetened condensed milk over the top. However my top layer was chocolate chips, so I ended up with a gooey mess of chocolate that didn't firm up. Just an FYI. Next time I will follow the recipe.

Cream of Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
This soup was incredible. I followed the other recommendations and added extra brown sugar. Next time I'll carmelize the onions to see if that adds some sweetness. I used low-salt chicken broth and 2% milk plus a bit of half and half. I think it was perfect that way and wouldn't bother with the heavy cream. This is a keeper but I want to figure out a way to sweeten it up without so much sugar.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
This was awesome, especially since I work and have a new baby. I didn't have any onion soup mix on hand so I used Hidden Valley Ranch mix instead, which was sooo good. Tried it again with the onion soup and much preferred the ranch!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
I made these without changing the recipe and I think they were perfect. If I wasn't frosting them, I would probably add more sugar. But I think any more sugar plus frosting would make them too sweet. Perfect!

Fantastic Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
Aha! When I was making this I thought it needed more tomatoes so I added a second can. Then I read the reviews and it seems that others felt the same way. Instead of simmering it on the stove I put this in the crock pot for a few hours. Awesome!

Dark Rye Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
This recipe made a perfect loaf of bread. I followed the directions on the first page of the most helpful reviews because I don't have a bread machine. Next time as a personal preference I will omit the molasses and cocoa powder. Still five-star bread!

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
This is a great recipe. I use a cast iron dutch oven because the toffee doesn't burn as easily that way. I stir constantly and I don't use a thermometer. I've noticed that there is a very short window between when the toffee has that sickly hot butter smell (not appetizing at all) and when it smells like toffee. When you hit that perfect toffee point, you should see a tiny wisp of smoke come off the toffee. The first time this happened, I thought I was burning it and I pulled it off the burner immediately. But it was perfect! Then I stir in a teaspoon of vanilla and dump it out onto the parchment paper to cool.

Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
I feel bad giving this recipe such a low rating because it's so easy and I know what kind of work goes into making real fudge. This fudge tasted good the first day but after that it was just gummy. I put it out for company and no one ate it. I will probably bite the bullet and learn to make fudge the hard way.
