Old World Poppy Seed Roll

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
The ratio on pastry to poppyseed was off for my family. Too many poppyseeds. I will make a single loaf with the bread next time and cut the poppyseed mix in half. Maybe add a little more sugar to the bread dough to make up for the reduced sugar/poppyseed mixture.

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Good basic recipe. I used french bread, which gave it a light and delightful crispiness/chewiness that was just enough texture to make it interesting. Might try adding some pear or cranberries next time to add a little pizazz.

Breaded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Won't make this again. The flavor was just kind of blah and doesn't justify the added fat of the butter.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
This was a big hit at my holiday party. Several people asked for the recipe and requested that I make it again next year. I only gave it 4 stars however because I thought it was a bit too sweet (even though I used real whipped cream instead of whipped topping). Maybe if I add strawberries next time (a little tart to mello the sweet), I might like it better.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
Good base recipe but a bit bland. Needs some extra spices. Next time I will try a little rosemary and maybe a bit of lemon juice. I used panko instead of bread crumbs and that gave it a nice crispiness.

Balsamic Roasted Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
Great recipe but next time I might add some fresh thyme or something like that to make the flavor a little more complex. My husband loved these.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
Great flavor but next time I will have half the amount of nuts and berries, there were just too many for the amount of spinach.

Roasted Vegetables

Fantastic flavor and easy to do. Just cut the potatoes very small and it all got done within 45 minutes. scrambled up some left-overs the next morning with egg and had a very tasty and filling breakfast. Can't wait to make again.

Banana Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
Took over an hour to cook and was still not fully done. Perhaps because I used a glass bread pan. In any event, gooey, disappointing and won't make again.
