Old Charleston Style Shrimp and Grits

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2014
Amazing recipe. I did not have the sausage and it was still incredible. I have made the grits with regular milk and still great. Once I added leftover chicken to it as well. The secret is the roux. Get it nice and toasty brown.

Ricotta Stuffed Zucchini

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
Excellent. I made these into appetizers. I cut the zucchini into rounds and hollowed out a bit. I added a bit of garlic to the mixture and used Italian seasoning. I put some filling on the zucchini rounds and topped with half a grape tomato and baked for about 10 minutes. Fabulous. Beautiful looking and everyone loved. Good way to use up the garden produce.

New Orleans Corn Bisque with Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
Fabulous and easy to make. I added one can of creamed corn for thickness and then a whole package of frozen corn. I did not add cheese since it was great as it was. Used 3 cups 1% milk and 1 cup fat free half and half. Was rich and creamy. Everyone raved about it.

Best Butternut Squash Soup Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Everyone loved this soup - and this from a family that does not like butternut squash. I did omit the allspice ( not a fan) but added a shot of sherry and about a cup of heavy cream. Fabulous!!! Will make time and time again.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I am guilty of changing the recipe and really don't like it when others do that!! I used ham which worked just fine. I thought the flavors were great but I made a few mistakes. I used cubed frozen hash browns and I think that made this not as good. It seemed a little "lumpy." I also tried to make it more healthy ( what was I thinking???) by using fat free cottage cheese. It made it a bit watery. Next time I will try and find the shredded potatoes and use regular ingredients. Live and learn!!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
These were unbelievable. My kids could not get enough of them. I used the entire box of pudding and used my break maker. They were easy and delicious. I put mine in 2 round cake pans with 8 rolls in each. I froze them after cooking and they thawed beautifully and were just as good after being frozen. This is a real keeper.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Excellent recipe. Tasted very much like the mall type. Be sure and brush melted butter on them when they come out of the oven. Thanks for a great recipe.

Fresh Salsa I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2006
This is amazing! Don't change a thing. I added the chopped tomatoes at the very end and pulsed it to leave it a bit more chunky. The jalepenos give it a kick without being too hot.

Blue Cheese Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
I did not make the sauce but used this recipe for baking the tenderloin. It was the best I have ever had. Starting in a hot oven and then turning it down makes all the difference. Can't wait to try the sauce next time

Popovers

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
Excellent!! Finally popovers that stay puffed. The butter in the bottom of the pan is the trick to getting them out easily. This will replace my old recipe from now on!!

Apple Raisin French Toast Strata

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2005
I covered overnight with Saran wrap, placed a dish on top and then a heavy can. Made the bread absorb all the liquid. I would add a little cinnamon sugar to the apples to sweeten it a little. Definitely need syrup. Will make again.

Mustard Sauce for Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
Very easy to make. Nice consistency. A bit too vinegary for me. I would add half the amount and then adjust to taste.

Famous Chicken Francaise

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2003
Excellent. I add white wine to the chicken broth and thicken with cornstarch. Pour it over the chicken after it has browned and bake before dinner for about 30 minutes. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve with spaghetti. A friend who gets this at every restaurant gave it rave reviews.

BLT Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2003
When I first mixed the ingredients and tasted it, I was disappointed. Tasted very mayonnaisey - BUT WAIT....overnight in the fridge it developed a wonderful flavor and everyone raved about this. I cooked the bacon and then put everything in the food processor for a bit. Very, very good.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2002
Excellent. My family who turns their noses up at anything orange, loved this!! The topping is very sweet so I think next time I would omit the white sugar in the potatoes. No need for it. I am planning to make this again in two weeks for a holiday party.

My whole family loved these, which is a miracle. I sauted the mixture longer to get the moisture out so they were easy to handle. Would definately make again!!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Absolutely fabulous!! My kids loved it and ask for it over and over. One is not a meat lover and even she can't get enough. Don't leave out the beer. It is what makes the difference.
