About this Cook
I love to cook! I'm the oldest of 5 children and live at home so I get plenty of opportunities to try new ideas. Other things I enjoy are playing piano (I'm our church pianist), taking pictures, babies, and I love reading. I learned to cook from my Mama. Raising 5 children on one income and a low grocery budget she was really good at creating yummy meals from anything in the cupboard. So while I'm not great at cooking the "fancier" foods, give me a cupboard full of odds and ends and I can probably make ya something that won't taste half bad.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is my favorite time. In the last few years as my siblings and I have gotten older we've begun adding our own recipes to Mama's "Thanksgiving line up".
My cooking triumphs
I've had a few. :-)
My cooking tragedies
Also had a few of these. :-)

Chicken Salad
Delicious!!!! I have never made chicken salad before and was a little nervous because I have tasted some nasty ones. Wanted to make something fun and new for a luncheon/baby shower, found this very basic recipe and thought I'd try it. I omitted the onions (might add them another time) and added garlic and onion powder and fresh lemon juice. So so yummy and easily doubled/tripled. Will definitely be making this again. And again and again!
