Well, I read all 400+ reviews, and mine isn't going to reveal anything new, but I will confirm others' experiences and how I followed many of their suggestions. Overall, I think these are just lovely cookies--in terms of how they look, their soft texture, and their wonderful, Christmas-y flavors! I would definitely include these on any Christmas cookie tray or in any cookie exchange. I do think they are a little on the sweet side, so I might try pulling back on the white sugar by a half cup next time. And I doubled the orange zest in both the dough and the glaze, and I thought the cookies ended up with a very pronounced orange flavor. I also added a teaspoon of vanilla and a 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract to the dough. I used pecans instead of walnuts, though I think either would be good. I used a regular cookie scoop and got 42 cookies (3 1/2, not 4 dozen), and I baked them for 13 minutes at 350 degrees, and they came out perfectly done. I also had plenty of glaze to do all the cookies with some left over (using the snipped baggie trick). You really don't want to overdo it with the glaze, because they are plenty sweet as it is! Bottom line, this recipe is a winner!
