Veggie Pot Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2005
Really good! I made this into 6 mini-pies (see picture) and did use more cornstarch (5 tablespoons). I don't like mushrooms so I substituted with frozen peas which turned out fantastic. I'll definitely make again and again. Perfect with the roasted garlic potatoes recipe and some cranberry sauce!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2005
Really yummy smoothie! I loved having the oats in the drink (I did grind mine into a fine powder with a mortar and pestle). It felt really wholesome and was a great way to start my morning.

Super Spicy Chocolate Milk

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2002
I made this using regular milk instead of sweetened condensed and was conservative with the spices. It was extremely spicy and since the spices don't melt, VERY gritty. It was also bitter but perhaps that was because I didn't have the right milk on hand. My boyfriend and I took a few sips and had to dispose of the rest. If you make this, I'd suggest trying whole pieces of the spices so you can take them out after steeping in water or trying to strain them out. I, however, won't be adding this to my recipe box at home.

Purple Monstrosity Fruit Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2005
Very tasty! I used 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup soy milk and 1/2 cup plain yogurt. The consistency was perfect - not too thick and not too thin.

Doggie Biscuits I

Reviewed: May 6, 2002
These come out great! I made them to sell at a dog walk-a-thon for the shelter I volunteer at. The dogs loved them. After following the advice of the others, I only added 1/2 cup of water. That is the correct amount! The dough forms and cuts easily and bakes up just like a biscuit. I tasted one myself and it wasn't bad. I was a bit wary of the 2 Tbsp of vanilla extract (that seems like an awful lot) so next time I'll use 2 tsp and see how they come out.

Linguini with Broccoli and Red Peppers

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2002
Very tasty! I found that a whole pound of Linguini was too much for the sauce/vegetables. I recommend only cooking half the box (1/2 pound) or else doubling the rest. I used half and it came out very nice.

I gave this as a gift to my sister. After she baked them she told me her 1 1/2 year old daughter kept saying "More cookie more cookie!"

Pumpkin Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2002
I made this for Thanksgiving and my family loved it! I cut big pieces out and served it like cake with cool whip on top. Very tasty! I did have to increase the cooking time to an hour because it had not cooked in the middle after 45 min.

Peanut Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2002
This is a fantastic recipe! Also very quick! I made it with crunchy peanut butter and olive oil since I forgot to pick up the sesame. It came out great! It was creamy and not salty like some people complained. (Most likely depends on the brand of soy sauce you use.) My boyfriend has already requested that we make this recipe again this week.

Winter Solstice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2002
I made this the first day it snowed. It was a wonderfully warm, creamy and filling soup. The next time I make it however, I think I'm not going to blend all of it so there will be some chunks of veggies to add texture.

Cheese Cake Cups

Reviewed: May 6, 2002
Very quick and easy! Tasty too! I put chocolate chips right in the mixture and topped with fresh pieces of strawberries. My baking time was also more around 25 min than the 15 stated on the recipe. Also, make sure you refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

Dairy Free Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2002
Unfortunately, I had the same problem with my chocolate clumping. As for taste, I liked it but thought it could have been sweeter. It's a very dense pudding compared to instant kinds-I couldn't finish 1 serving. If I make this pudding again, I think I'll add more sugar and get the clumps out of the chocolate BEFORE I put it in the saucepan.

Boardwalk Quality Maple Walnut Fudge

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
Wow. And fudge is normally way down on my list of go-to sweets. I made this for someone as a gift and was very pleasantly surprised how good it was. The texture is very smooth and it cut up into amazing little cubes so easily! I added an extra 1/2 tsp of extract and toasted the walnuts. Hello delicious!

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
Ok - cooking time is really off but with a little extra time these come out so yummy it's worth the wait. My husband and I wanted to eat the whole pan but were able to hold off till the next night. They were just as good if not slightly better with a quick reheat in the microwave. We'll be making these again but will cut the potatoes into smaller pieces so they don't have to cook so long. The ones in the picture I posted took about an hour.

Baked Ziti II

A bit bland. Needs some spices or something to jazz it up. Overall it was quick and easy and made enough for several meals. I cut back a bit on the cheeses because it seemed like a lot.

I added a bit of shredded cheese on top and let it melt while on my plate. It's a pleasant healthy recipe but I found myself wanting more rice. I'll double it next time.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2002
This dough makes a very tasty pizza. I like a really thick crust so I used it all to make one pizza on my stone. It's worth the wait! Note: When ever I make my own pizza, I always pop the crust and sauce in for 5 min and then add the cheese-otherwise I end up with very dark cheese and somewhat undercooked crust.
