Grandma's Corn Pudding

I lost the recipe that I got from my mother so I thought I'd try this one. It was very good. I seasoned to my taste with a dash of salt, white pepper and I used half the sugar. It tasted just like the recipe I got from my mother. I will definitely make this again.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

This is a great basic recipe. After reading the reviews, I cut the salt by 1/4 teaspoon, added 1/4 cup flour, used butter-flavored shortening so the cookies wouldn't spread too much and become flat, used 1 teaspoon each of baking soda and baking powder. I used 2 1/2 cups quick cooking oats instead of 3 cups because I was afraid the dough would be too thick with the shortening and the extra nuts and chocolate chips I like to add. These cookies came out perfectly chewy with just the right amount of crunch on the edge. They stayed soft even after they cooled. I will be adding this one to my go-to recipe box.

A Very Popular BBQ Sauce

I ran out of BBQ sauce and needed something fast using the ingredients I already have. I only used half the recipe and I didn't have red wine vinegar or sweet chili sauce so had to use apple cider vinegar and a little cayenne pepper. I cooked it and put it in a squeeze bottle after it cooled (my son loves spicy bbq sauce on his hot dogs). Although I love sweet and spicy sauces, I didn't "love" this one as it was a bit too sweet for me. I added more Worcestershire sauce, a little garlic and onion powder to cut the sweetness. It came out perfect. This will definitely be my permanent go-to BBQ recipe. Thanks!

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

I rarely write reviews but this cake recipe was very good with a few changes. I used some of the suggestions that were posted and my cake didn't turn out dense or too sweet. The changes I made: 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening instead, 1/4 cup Strawberry Jello instead of the whole package (I think I'll try it with less Jello next time and more strawberry puree), 1-1/2 cups sugar, and only 3 eggs (I didn't even separate them). Thanks! It made a great Valentine's Day cake for my husband and 2 sons. They really enjoyed it.
