Grilled Venison Backstrap

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
Not for us! I like sweet flavors with some meats, such as pork and chicken, but the apple cider vinegar doesnt' belong with venison. We cooked some of our meat with seasonings/spices, and it was great. I followed this recipe to a "T" and couldn't eat it. It actually turned me off of venison for a while!!

Cuban Ropa Vieja

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
Just okay. My husband is Cuban, and we have had many versions of Ropa Vieja, and this was the least desirable. We even put it on tortillas with cheese and sour cream to help it out a bit, but still not that great. If I'm going to cook something that takes this much time, I want it to be yummy! This fell short. I'd recommend trying a different recipe for this.

Dill and Butter Squash

SO good!! No fail, simple side. I sautéed some chopped garlic in the butter before adding the squash. Mmmmmmm

Tender Breaded Turkey Cutlets

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2012
First off, you need to use a lot more olive oil than is called for or all of the breading sticks to the pan and leaves none on the turkey. Secondly, this is a bland dish that needs some jazzing up. Not my fav.

Cubanos Frijoles

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
PERFECT! My husband is Cuban, and he LOVED this dish! My kids also gobbled it up (and they are picky 4 & 6 year olds). SO EASY to make, wonderful left over- I didn't use chipotle powder, and used McCormick "kickin' chicken" spice mix (for grilling) instead of Cajun spices, since that what I had. Great recipe to make substitutions as needed. This is one of my favorite recipes from this site!!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2014
I agree with other reviewers that the cooking time should be cut, probably 4-5 hrs would be plenty. And it was dry, needed darker meat or something to help it out. It is super easy, though, and my kids ate it, so that's always a plus.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2013
One of the best recipes I've tried on this site! Make sure to note that the recipe (as is) only makes two burritos. I like the idea of using this as a dip.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2013
YES! This hit the spot. I added carrots to the butter with other veggies, as well as chopped garlic. Also cooked the noodles in the soup after adding the broth. Very flavorful to be so easy!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
AWESOME! This is super quick and easy, perfect for a quick and healthy supper. A ton of flavor from a small amount of ingredients. I don't care for tilapia that you buy in the large bags, so I use a package from the seafood department. Just the right amount of fish for a family of four. Pair it with a salad and some couscous, and BAM! You'll look like a rockstar! :-)

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

SO good. I wouldn't change a thing! But I may try it with other berries just for fun.

Easy Lemon and Garlic Broccoli

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2013
I cut the steaming time for the broccoli a lot, and some of the heads were browned. Not sure if more water would've helped. Next time I may try to steam broccoli in steamer basket and pour garlic butter sauce over it before serving.

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
Yes! A new family favorite! I took another reviewer's advice and used a little fresh lime juice, a lemon pepper rotisserie chicken, chopped fresh cilantro on top before covering with cheese for extra flavor. Easy to make a lower fat version if you want.

Asian Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
My whole family likes this recipe, and it's great to serve company for lunch or dinner. Next time I won't toss everything together, as all of the goodies went to the bottom of the bowl. I did cut the chicken I to small pieces before marinating so more of the meat had flavor. Otherwise followed directions.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2013
Great base recipe! I like another reviewer's idea to add chopped up maraschino cherries. I may substitute those for nuts in one of the loaves since my son doesn't like the nuts. Very moist and adaptable.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2013
I marinated the chicken pieces in the vinegar/lime mixture with the green onions and garlic, and also added cumin to give it more of a taco taste. It was still a bit bland, but overall this is a really simple and good recipe. One to keep and play around with a little more.

Tomato and Garlic Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2013
Really good- I'm a garlic junky so I put at least 15 whole cloves in it which gave it extra flavor. I also added a bit of oregano. My whole family enjoyed this dish! I had some veggie thin spaghetti from Publix that my kids didn't even detect, so a yummy, healthy dinner for all. :)

Koula's Best Ever Chicken Gyros

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2013
De-lish!! I did follow others' advice and used a tzatziki recipe (I used Greek tzatziki from this website) instead of plain yogurt. I also cut the yogurt a bit and replaced it with sour cream. I set oven to broil LO and put them in for 10-15 minutes since it was small pieces. Make sure to spoon some of the pan juices onto each sandwich and enjoy!!

Mushroom Cube Steaks

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2013
Quick, inexpensive and filling, but lacked a little something to me. I added more butter than called for because it didn't seem to be enough. The meat did come out more tender than I expected for cubed steak, and overall was a good weeknight main dish. I'll just play around with other seasonings next time.

Easy, delicious and healthy! It's better if you let it sit for a few hors before eating it (put peanuts on when you serve). Great for a lite lunch or a dinner side.

So yummy and easy! Just found a way to get everyone in my family to eat carrots! Nice, subtle flavor from the dill. I followed directions exactly and it was super easy and good.
