I am 22 years old and have been watching my mother cook since I was tall enough to stand on the kitchen stool. I love trying new dishes and have yet to come across a food I absolutely cannot stand (except for dried apricots). I love cooking and baking for my friends and family--it truly is the best stress reliever!
My favorite things to cook
Anything pasta! Pan seared & baked meats, especially chicken and pork. Fresh vegetables, baked breads, cookies, pies, cakes, etc...
My favorite family cooking traditions
The smell of the house during a breezy fall day when speghetti sauce has been slow cooking on the stove. Mum and I always dip a chocolate chip cookie (always on hand, because it was a "sin" to leave a cookie jar empty) in the sauce to taste. I recommend trying it--you would be surprised!
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean chicken pot pie! I also have a mediterranean stuffed pepper recipe that is usually on the request line.
My cooking tragedies
Overflowed banana bread--I underestimated the size of the bread pan!
I once accidentally left a plastic Ziplock bag on the stove while the oven was on...I have not used the burner since! However, the stuffed peppers (see above) were toasting in the oven and turned out great. The horrid plastic smell turned out to be worth it in the end :)
