Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2012
I have made this recipe three times now (once as bread and twice as muffins) and we love it! I do have to say that 1/2 cup of sour cream is a bit too noticeable in the taste and that bothered my husband. Now, instead of using 2 bananas, i use 3 (MASHED for sure), and only use 1/4 cup sour cream. Perfect. Hubby didn't even know I still used sour cream in the recipe. I also make this recipe as muffins, using a muffin tin and paper liners, which makes about 12 muffins and i only bake for about 25 min. Easier/more fun to eat and still more moist than most of the banana nut muffin recipes on here!

Detroit Hot Honey Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
Just made grilled wings for the first time using this recipe. They are much better than i thought they would be! I browned them fairly dark so that they would have crispier skins and they were juicy and good. Cooked them probably 15 min as they were on the small side. When seasoning the wings prior to cooking, I added garlic powder, paprika, and chili powder to the salt, black pepper and cayenne. I thought this added a lot of nice flavor to the meat. When making the sauce, I used unsalted butter so they wouldn't be as salty (since I salted the meat prior to grilling and Frank's Red Hot has salt). I would only use 1/3 c. butter next time as I didn't quite need it all for 3 lbs of wings. I also think the final sauce only needs 1/4 c. honey as it was pretty sweet. I thickened it up with a few dashes of corn starch as well, think that worked out pretty nicely.

Italian Taco Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
It's close to my favorite taco salad my aunt used to make but way too bland as-is. It is MUCH better if you add taco seasoning while browning the meat (that's how my aunt made it)! The taco seasoning flavors do not clash with the italian dressing at all, in fact i think it's much better with italian than with ranch. Do yourself a favor and season the meat with at least a half a package of taco seasoning to really make this tasty! Cut the cheese in half, too. Please also add diced tomatoes and black olives if you like those for the best taco salad ever!
