About this Cook
I have spent entire days in the kitchen, baking and anticipating my husband's and daughter's reactions to the delicious aromas and their delight upon tasting the fabulous desserts. Of course, my husband shovels it down, and my daughter asks, "What about the cupcakes?" But I keep baking, anyway - it's so much fun! Aside from baking and having a major sweet tooth, I love to run and get to the gym whenever I can. (It helps to counteract the constant supply of desserts in our house!) I am also always up for a good book, and have been reading a bunch of Lisa See's work lately. I speak a little French, and a little Mandarin, and am a grammar fanatic when it comes to English. My cooking goal is to learn how to cook more 'real food' and build our little family's rotation of regular dinners.
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake, especially when I can get my daughter to help.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
These were good cookies - I made them tonight for a friend's birthday. While there was nothing wrong with the taste, the cookies weren't exceptional, either. Nothing really special in the flavor... I also found that the texture was much better when I increased the cooking time by 2 to 3 minutes. The cookies came out crisp on the edges rather than crumbly, which was an improvement since mine were pretty flat. I might try these again with added spices or with other reviewers' adjustments. Thanks for a good basic recipe!

Quick and Easy Home Fries
What a great way to use up potatoes! I had a few (they were getting soft, and still turned out with a perfect texture!) that I didn't want to spend a lot of time on, and tried this recipe on a whim. I sliced the potatoes into traditional french fry-shaped sticks, and followed the recipe exactly. The fries were a little brown on the side that got 10 minutes covered, and a few were soft when the batch was done, so next time I might start stirring a little sooner. Other than that, the recipe was amazing! My husband loved them, saying they were as good as the restaurant fries we had eaten last night. Easy and delicious - thank you!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
This bread is moist and delicious. (Even having substituted half of the oil for applesauce.) The pumpkin taste is perfectly balanced with the spices, making the overall flavor warm and spicy, sweet without being cloyingly sweet. My mom considered hiding her loaf from my brother. (I brought her more!)
