About this Cook
I teach high school history so I am interested in easy main dishes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook family recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandmother's Cracker Jack recipe in the fall, her green jello salad at Thanksgiving. Baked Beans on 4th of July. My mother taught me how to make the best pies in the world. Her pie crust never fails. Huckleberry is my favorite!
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I manage to pay attention long enough not to burn what I'm cooking is a triumph. I have a very short attention span!
My cooking tragedies
I get sidetracked a lot and end up forgetting about what I'm cooking.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese
My family LOVES this recipe. I love it too because it is so easy to make. Tonight I'm adding leftover ham but normally I just serve it with a salad and vegetable and Voila! Dinner is served.

Hot Fudge Sundae Cake
I was really hoping to give this a 5 star... I read it at work and it sounded delish! I should have read a few more reviews and I would have seen that this recipe is clearly one of those you either love it or leave it recipes. Our family found that the cake portion really lacked flavor while the hot fudge portion was really more pudding than fudge. I'd still recommend trying to find out what your family says. It's easy enough and doesn't waste a lot of expensive ingredients.

Thumbprint Cookies I
Loved this cookie. I wanted to go retro with my Christmas cookie trays this year so I needed a good Thumbprint Cookie recipe. I read all the reviews for this one and everyone said to quadruple it so I did. The dough was very soft so I did have to add a half cup more flour to be able to work with it. I also followed the reviewers advice and baked them 8 minutes each time. They turned out great! This one is a keeper, retro or not.....
