These were a huge hit at a holiday party this year. I used 1/3 cup bourbon and it was perfect!

Brie Cheese Appetizer

Fantastic appetizer and it was loved by all. I used raspberry preserves, but I've had it with apricot preserves and it's just as good!

Mock Chocolate Cookie Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
Great crust, but it's fairly thick, so be aware before you place it in the pie pan!

Mound Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
Fantastic! This was a great recipe and it was really enjoyed by all. I definitely recommend using an 8x8 pan and spreading the chocolate chips evenly over the hot coconut mixture to let them melt. I'll definitely be making this again!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2014
Great recipe! I used Granny Smith apples and decreased the water to 1/4 cup based on people's suggestions. I also added a bit of nutmeg and tossed the apples in the cinnamon mixture before placing them in the pan. I tried doubling the crumble part and layering the crumble and apples to make bars, but this ended up having an unfavorable crisp to apple ratio. I tried it with a one to one like it's written and it's definitely better with just one layer each.

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2014
This is a great recipe as long as you make a few distinct changes. First off, don't use shortening and use cold butter - this is essential. Next, add the zest of one lemon to the crumb mixture and add the juice of one lemon to the blueberry mixture. Do this and this recipe will turn out great!

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2014
Fantastic chocolate cake!! I made the cake exactly the way the author wrote and it was super moist and very, very tasty (almost brownie consistency). I used a different frosting, so I can't comment on that. This is one cake that I'll be making again!

Shannon's Smoky Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2014
Made this almost exactly the way the author wrote it (just swapped swiss cheese for Gruyere) and it was overall okay. The consistency was fairly grainy and I wouldn't include the parmesan cheese in the mix again - I would just use it for the topping. One bonus is that this reheats really, really well and makes a ton!

Strawberry Avocado Salad

This is a great recipe!! I'm not usually a fan of sweet salads, but the ingredients perfectly balance each other and it's definitely a recipe to keep!

Tomato, Basil, and Feta Salad

Fantastic!! The basil is amazing and I loved the scallions in it - gave it such a nice flavor. We added avocado for some extra creaminess. Yum!

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2014
This is a great recipe!! I took the advice from some other reviewers and tweaked a bit of the ingredients around to round out the flavors. I added one chopped onion, 1 cubed red potato, about 1 tsp oregano, increased the garlic from 1 to 3 cloves, added a bit of ditalini at the end, changed the broth to 32 oz of beef stock, cut out the salt, and used half sweet, half hot sausage. I would recommend using all hot sausage as that had the best flavor and using diced tomatoes rather than the stewed tomatoes. The spinach and zucchini are great additions to this recipe and it's really a keeper!

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
This is seriously the best chocolate frosting that I've ever had in my life! I don't know if it was the butter, but it was intensely creamy and just the right amount of sweet. It worked perfect on chocolate cupcakes and this was a huge hit!

This is an absolutely fantastic recipe and I didn't need to change a thing. I made cupcakes out of these and they were a HUGE hit. This is now my go-to recipe for chocolate cake and I see no reason to try anything else!

Acorn Squash

Not bad! This is my first time trying acorn squash and while it's not my favorite squash, it's still pretty good. The cinnamon that a few people suggested was a nice touch!

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
Amazing recipe! This was the first time I've had butternut squash soup and it was absolutely delicious. I modified it a bit based on everyone's suggestions. I changed the margarine to butter, used only one 8 oz package of cream cheese instead of 2, used 4 cups of chicken stock instead of the water and bullion, and added one clove of crushed garlic. I'll add a bit more cayenne pepper next time to give it an extra zip!

Pita Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
This is a great recipe! The only changes we made was to substitute spinach for the lettuce and feta cheese for the sour cream/salsa. The pita pockets were delicious and it was a very flavorful meal. Definitely go with wheat pitas over the regular ones - so good!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2013
Very great cookies!! The only thing I changed was not dissolving the baking soda in hot water; I just mixed it in with the flour like most cookie recipes. Take these cookies out of the oven about a minute before they're done and they're prefect!

Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2013
This is a great version of a classic recipe! It's one of my favorite dishes for the holidays and I love that this makes so much. The parmesan cheese is a nice touch and doing this in the slow cooker frees up space in the oven for other yummy dishes!
