The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

First of all I want to say that the way my cookies came out was im sure of no fault of this recipe. Though I have been baking for 40 years I have never attempted sugar cookies. I finally decided on these because of so many positive reviews. With that said, I want to say my cookies did not come out perfect but I can see with more practice I may be able to get them to as good as some of the positive reviewers. I added 1 extra cup of sugar and 1more teaspoon of vanilla the flavor of the cookies were excellent. My dough was not sticky at all. I didn't need to roll them out on parchment paper and they cut out and retained their shape perfectly. I did find that rolling them out using confectioners sugar caused them to be sticky from the bottom after cooking them so I switched back to flour which was much better. Also after cooling they became very crunchy to the point I was afraid I might break a tooth. I'm not sure what caused that maybe not making them thick enough? I did monitor my time doing some at 5,6,&8 mins. But I just checked and all are as crunchy. So im not sure how to fix this. I'm still giving the recipe 5 stars because the problems were with something I did wrong.

Banana Crumb Muffins

I just pulled them out of the oven. The house smells so good. I used the 'adjust recipe' option here because I had two cupcake sheets that held a total of 24 muffins and I wanted to fill them all up. Plus there are 12 of us and I know everyone would want more than 1 if they came out good. So good thing I doubled it. I did use 9 bananas because that's how many I had to use up or they were going in the freezer. I also used half melted butter and half canola oil. I put both pans into a 350 degree oven set it for 35 minutes because I thought they were going to be dense and would need the extra time. Good thing I checked after 18 mins because they were perfectly done. The only problem is that I was going to add my crumb topping to them like some suggested 5 mins before they were done. Well here is where I had another brain fart, because instead of the 2tbls.+1 1/4 tsp of butter for the crumb topping I used a whole stick couldn't for the life of me figure out why it didn't look crumbly lol... ANYWAY I smushed it on top of the muffins put them in the oven for a couple of minutes so the topping would melt then just spread it around like a frosting lol... Needless to say this recipe is very forgiving. The muffins are light and taste wonderful. The way they make the house smell is just an added plus. I would recommend you try this recipe at least once. It's really quick and easy.
